Originally, DDV was going to make Mongul and dustin was gonna mod the Brimstone legs for me since DDV wasn't sure on making them taller. But after seeing the pictures of the modded legs by Dustin, I chose to ask Dustin if he would like to tackle Mongul Jr. and he said yes. So I'll be sending the remaining parts to him instead. Here's a picture of the modded and lengthen legs that added height and give him some nicer different proportions: Idea of the height it adds: Reference:

3rd Non-Marvel or DC custom, Solomon Kane by the epic Conan creator Robert E. Howard. I got my first update from spawnsauce on my Solomon Kane custom, he's going to be a mix of three looks, Movie, two comics. Here's the reference photo's I gave him: Info: -He still has the hair to sculpt and the hat to make. Without the hat and long hair he kinda looks like a pirate, but maybe that's just him. -The cape isn't on securely yet, so that's why it looks kinda blah. -The head is easily removable, so instead of gluing the cape to him, he might join the ends with a strap to slide around his neck. -Having the head removeable will allow for one head with the hat on permanently, and one without the hat. -For the various belts and straps, he'll sculpt them out of green stuff and glue them to the figure. -He also has a few LOTR swords and stuff that he'll sculpt for his weapons. -The head was just an amalgam of all the pics I suggested and his own take on the character. Sculpted to look grizzled. -One thing I think might look better is sculpt boots instead of the cloth boot tops.

Update to Solomon Kane from spawnsauce: Info: -Won't look like an official 'puritan' hat until he puts the little buckle on top. -Still has alot of detail work to do with little belts and straps all over. -Weapons were sculpted. -Also replaced the gloves and boots with leather to make more realistic. -Then just some quick paint for some color. -2nd head will be bloody/bruised and no hat with long flowing hair. Anyone know of or seen a Flintlock pistol/rifle gun that it's in the scale with ML's.

Update from GrownNerd on Killer Croc's ankles and paint-rub. -Got the feet on the ankles, and then onto the shins. -Next step is to dremel & shape that area better, then sculpt scales to match. -Shouldn't be long. He's hoping to finish Monday night so he can send out mid week. -The thing that concerns him more is his hips are getting a lot of paint rub, even after my thinking that he sanded down enough. He'll have to pull the legs off and reduce the areas some more and continue to test. It's what he hates most about customs because it's so tedious—paint, wait at least overnight for paint to cure, test, redo if it rubs, repeat, etc. If he doesn't make it out mid week it'll be because of this rather than the ankles. -Also the orange paint he's using doesn't seem very durable. When the legs move to a position where the crotch stops them from moving further, the impact points are rubbing the paint off. Not good. Strange because it's Vallejo brand, which has been pretty good for him. Could just be a problem with this color. If it keeps happening after touch ups he'll have to see about switching to another brand's orange. I got a unexpected box today and it was Killer Croc from GrownNerd:

The offical finished update of Flash "Blue Lantern" from Ibentmyman-thing: Info: -The blue parts are silver coated in clear blue, his black parts are also all coated with a coat of clear blue, which gives him a two-tone bluish appearance when the light strikes him just right, which faintly emulates a blue corona of energy. Camera doesn't really pick it up well at all. -He sculpted the raised symbol on his chest. Took a few tries to paint the symbol right. Cut out the lightning bolt and painted it bluish-white and glued it on top to emulate the raised 3d lightning bolt he has in the comic. -He also tried to give the hint of the Blue Lantern symbol in his ring. That didn't come out so well. There's a faint trace of it but the paint washed out a lot of the detail. Here's another member of the Blue Corps also by Ibentmyman-thing, Brother Warth: Info: -Still needs a lot of sanding before he starts painting but the sculptwork is mostly done. -Lioncloth is almost done. Here's a scale shot for the moment: Got a update from Ibentmyman-thing on Brother Warth though, Info; -Brother Warth is done except for a bit of cleanup here and there. -One left to go, Saint Walker. I got finished pictures of Brother Warth: Ibentmyman-thing got the parts for Hal Jordan's & Arkkis Chummuck. He's gonna start on the different Hal's until that avatar jake gets to him from DDV.

Mongul update from dustin, just pics with others for new height size. Info: -He's gonna be seriously huge. -Good idea lengthening the legs. -The bands and armor should be fun to sculpt. Small update to Mongul's waist, more height since his waist will be widened a little to make up for the height added and plus a belt goes there. Got a early update from Dustin on Mongul Jr. Info: -Here's some wips of mongul. -He widened his shoulders so he can have proper shoulder straps. -He'll thicken the straps so they look right and add the studs. -The shins and boots are still a major construction zone. Digital fix of shoulder straps:

Got another cool update from Dustin on Mongul Jr. plus the Radioactive Man that Cal had started and I got in that ebay lot from last april. Mongul Jr: After adding all that mass, he's been refining the sculpt and making sure things are symmetrical. The removable arm idea is totally do-able and he's included a picture of his socket, which should definitely support it. The chrome dots are paper fasteners anchored in tiny holes, as you can see on his shoulder straps. He used gold grommets on the rings to avoid sculpting all those circles, but then he realized they'd allow for snap-on constructs. Dustin's thinking about how to do removable ring faces for each ring, so any ring can be used for any construct. In order to start experimenting he'll get some clear plastic rods that can fit into the rings. Ideally eight will have ring faces and a few others will allow the constructs to attach to the rings. He thinks his right boot is headed in the right direction. It took a while to figure out how to translate those classic big boots from the drawings into 3D. Now that he have a sense of how heavy he is (heavy), he'll give some thought to adding thigh and shin articulation. If he can find and install strong enough pins for the joints, they would really give him an edge over the DCD figure. Radioactive Man: Dustin's been tinkering with Radioactive Man on and off since he received him. The engineering of the visor and the full-body sculpt work is fantastic, so after sanding the joints he concentrated on tightening up the harness and oxygen tank details. He'll put a clear dot like the ones on Cannonball's goggles on the harness buckle. The pouches are from DCSH Batmen. He'll put pins through the buttons to anchor them in place. The boots are based on some widely-used hazmat boots. The oxygen tank attaches with a post to the figure's back. Because it's not glued in place, the hose is pulling it at an angle, but after painting the tank will fit snugly onto the strap. The only other sculpt work he foresee is making pieces of belt visible between the pouches. If I prefer the way JRJR drew him in Spider-Man with a belt buckle instead of pouches straight across, he can pop off the center pouch and sculpt a buckle. Beyond that, he thinks he's ready to be primed.

Got that update from Grasshopperis on Angel from the Uncanny X-Men team, and Surge from her New X-Men days. 11/30/2009 Angel:He modded the arm sockets and used Superman Red upper arms and shoulders with Bizarro lower arms. He also added the blue accents because with all the white in the costume as well as the wings he thought it needed a little accenting. Surge:Upper Body and Shoulders - Blue Supergirl Arms - Cammy Pelvis - Toy Biz Vision Upper Legs - Wasp Lower Legs - Savage Dragon Feet - Hydro Man Head - XMC Rogue Hair - Conan. He's got to mod the arms to be more flush to the shoulders and he thinks the face will look okay when its painted. He doesn't know how I feel about the hair, but it seemed pretty close to the sort of shaggy bob Surge seemed to have in the pics. Reference:

Update on Surge, almost done. Info: -She's pretty much done. -He thinks he's gonna rework the back of her pants a bit, though. They look a little off. -He replaced the hands with Movie Iron Man ones and gave her "X" elbow pads from a House of M Wolverine glider. -He noticed that she had those in some versions of the gauntlets and though it was a cool detail.
