There's probably a real simple anserw for this, but i always found it strange because Roberts had turned heel for almost a year after he screwed with Warrior's mind just before summerslam 91 and this led to his feud with Taker who turned face.
Jake Roberts at this point in time 91/early 92 as a heel was in my opinion was one of the best heel runs of all time. He was such a big fan favourite that you would of thought turning him hel would of been really hard to do, but not a chance he pulled it off perfectly, but it was all cut short because he left and that's such a shame because he was on such a roll.
So why did he leave it 92?

He was promised a spot on the writing staff by McMahon, but wasn't given it - so decided to quit thinking he was being treated unfairly.

It honestly would have been amazing. He wrote all his promos, which were brilliant. Could anyone imagine the stories he would have pumped out had Vince let him get his creative juices flowing?

I gotta agree with the wholeFNshow here. Roberts promos were awesome. I could only imagine Jake being a writer and seeing some of the things he could've created.

I read somwhere that he threatened to no show WM8 if he wasn't granted his release and it was Pat Patterson's position he was promised, but was then denied it.

big shame - had Jake stayed on in WWF as creative - who knows how his life would have panned out instead of the mess he is in today.....

This may be a little off topic, but something I never quite understood was this: Jake filmed the vignettes with Ultimate Warrior in Sept/Oct 91, and he said in his DVD that he was supposed to feud with Warrior after SummerSlam 91, before Warrior left the company. But at the same event, Roberts and Taker crashed the Savage wedding, setting off a great feud between them. So if he was going to get into the wedding angle, why would he feud with Warrior? Was Warrior and Savage going to be a team against Roberts and Taker?

Was Warrior and Savage going to be a team against Roberts and Taker? During Summerslam 1991 or during that day, Warrior tried to hold up Vince for thousands of dollars or Warrior would no show the main event. Vince agreed and then fired the Warrior straight after the match. I think this vignette of 'Taker & Jake crashing the wedding was a quick fix solution that was filmed after the wedding, due to the Warrior's firing. As they needed a new opponent for Jake's newly turned heel character, it just happened to be Savage, which personally thought worked out for the best.
