What was the point in putting the Intercontinental belt on CM Punk when they knew he was gonna lose every match wearing it. Everytime he become champion, he becomes a jobber?
please discuss
by the way Im a CM Punk fan and I really like him to win most of his matches. not win 1% of them.

he lost tonight to build up next weeks match. not sure how long his feud with Regal is gonna last but thats what they are doing. i'm almost positive he'll win next week keeping the strap.

Are you joking? Regal always comes out of these matches looking like $#!t. I'm pretty surprised that he got the pin last night. Punk shouldn't have won the IC title, he should be jobbing, but that's not going to happen because somebody slipped Vince a mickey and talked him into pushing flea market bathroom champions instead of real wrestlers with actual personalities who are actually entertaining, like Regal.

i gotta say i do love regal. alot. hes a great old school type of wrestler. reminds me of flair in certant aspects, and ive always been a huge fan of his. i also love punk. hes a great new age style wrestler who i could have actually seen being great during the attitude era or even in the original ECW. this feud has been great. not forced or crammed in our faces. its taken a slow build up and they have had some great matches. when punk beat him for the belt, awesome match! i expect next week to be no different.
you almost cant compare the two guys. two different eras and styles. and thats why the feud has worked so well.

I like your Hulkamania sig. At least somebody realizes Hogan's greatness besides me. I like both Punk and Regal. I think that Punk should be IC champ. He has an incredible array of talent and a natural charisma. People tend to react to Punk. Regal should get out of the IC division and move on to the title. He has been in the business long enough for him to consider a run with the belt. I like Punk better than Regal, so I have no problem with him defeating Regal. I do agree with you that Regal has an incredible wrestling acumen and is one of the most entertaining people in the company. I would say he was most entertaining when he was the commissioner in 2001. |

Give someone the title because of their raw talent (Punk, Edge, Jericho) or because of the overwhelming crowd reactions they get (Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Shawn Michaels) but not because they have been in the WWE for longer than someone else (Regal, Kane)... |

CM Punk is a sell out he left ROH For WWE , its not that i dont respect his in ring ability i do i just hate it when WWE brings inguys from the Independent circuit and tells the to tone it down , i really Hate Vince he's a great business man but the guy is a Major A Hole

It's known as the "Jack Swagger booking" where they build somebody up amazingly well and as soon as they win the title they get jobbed out in a tag match on the next show
I guess the philosophy is "Well now he's got a belt he's well over, so anybody can beat him so they can get over aswell!"

Well to be totally honest, the IC championship nowadays has about as much prestige as the forever lost WWE European Championship. As sad as that may sound, sadly enough it is true. No one really cares nowadays if you have the IC championship. Having the thing on CM Punk is somewhat a validation of CM Punk's skills but when compared to the other big three belts, the WWE title, the World Heavyweight title and I'm only mentioning the ECW Heavyweight title because it is a heavyweight title. Seriously though, who cares about Jack Swagger and the ECW title. That's not a real belt. If you're in ECW, you're practically in the minor leagues compared to Raw and Smackdown. Anyways back to my point. So CM Punk has lost a few matches since winning the IC championship. The title is still around his waist sure but a couple of losses doesn't really mean he's being buried. They're just trying to beef up this feud with Regal as the WWE has done plenty of times. I say Regal beats him one more time by DQ the next time they face and as No Way Out or the Raw before No Way Out, Punk will get the win over Regal.
Whoever said Regal is stale on the mic must be smokin' crack. That dude has more confidence on the mic then any other wrestler on Raw. You would think that the guy is part professional actor and part wrestler. I'm not saying that CM Punk has zero confidence on the mic, don't get me wrong. Both wrestlers are pretty decent on the mic but William Regal is by far, the better wrestler to help perpetuate interest in feuds on the mic. I always enjoyed the way William Regal told stories and promos. Why do you think he was GM of Raw 4 to 5 years ago? The guy can talk man, he can d3f help tell a story both in the ring and out. Like when he feuded with Jamie Noble for like one or two Raws. He was the guy that really brought the life out of that short feud by beating Jamie Noble and fcking him over more by taking his would-be girl. Regal is the fckin man. I doubt he'll get over Punk to win the title but anything can happen.

Yeah. I see what you're saying. By the way, though I am on this forum, that doesn't mean I am an internet wrestling fan far from it actually. I mean I am just saying Regal does deserve a shot at the title, after his suspension his push was stopped he was probably going to go for the belt with his King Regal push, but it got halted and has been relegated to mid card. He has the talent to be champion, but yeah I see where you're going with crowd reactions, he used to get some good reactions, legitimate heat, last year he was one of the most over heels in wrestling and then his suspension hit and everything was halted. Regal not getting shots at the title is criminal though. If Festus can get a title shot, then Regal sure as hell can. I am talking about the title shot he received two weeks after Wrestlemania 24. |
