Honestly, I've never cared about Sonjay. Yay, he can do some flips and stuff - but what next? More flips. The only time I enjoyed him was the ladder match with Lethal. Honestly, he had no long term (imo) appeal. He had nothing going for him that made me like him besides spots. He looked way to jobberish - which was fitting..

Add X-Division star Sonjay Dutt to the list of talents gone from TNA. It appears he and TNA were not able to come to terms on a new deal, so he's departed the company. Dutt being gone has caught a few people I've spoken to by surprise as he was a big part of the company's face in India, where Impact has done quite well. His name was still coming up in company plans internally as of last week, so they were still working on locking him in until sometime this weekend. I have no word as to where this leaves So Cal Val creatively, as she had been working as his valet in recent months after the end of the Jay Lethal feud. Dutt's profile has already been removed from the TNA website roster page. (PWInsider.com) This cut doesn't surprise me either. Sonjay was just another guy that was good in the ring but that was about it. His look wasn't anything special and he can't cut a promo to save his life. I don't dislike Sonjay but, he is no big loss for TNA. Even though I'm sure someone will try to play him up to be an untapped goldmine. Cue the whining. Hopefully that horse face SoCal Val won't be too far behind him.

Sonjay leaving isn't really a big loss. It's just more telling that a guy like Kip James is kept around over Petey or Sonjay.

Speaking of Kip James disc.possible virus/wooo/src/1235191212334.gif[/IMG] Bummer about Sonjay. He'll be welcomed back on the indys though.

Meh, looks like that's the end of Sonjay's career.

If they are cutting these X-Division stars they better hope to god that they can sign London. Or that Kaz and Daniels are ready to come back.

It has been my experience over the past few decades that the cruiserweights/X division/lightweights (or whatever title they are given the next time they try it) dont make the main stream feds the pay off necessary. The fact still remains, that most masses of American Wrestling fans prefer watching a wrestler with an injury that can't even work, give a promo or work the mic more than they do a cruiser/xdivision guy who can fly around the ring. For this reason alone Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and countless others will always draw more, make more money and never be "cut" before a cruiser. That being said, continue to watch the small guys fly out of TNA and WWE.

Considering the crusierweight division in WCW frequently had higher ratings than any other part of the show in 99-01, I am inclined to disagree. It's all about how they are used. And as TNA has done nothing but squash the little guys in the past few years I am not at all surprised about these cuts.

And as TNA has done nothing but squash the little guys in the past few years I am not at all surprised about these cuts. I'm curious as to what site you are pulling that data from that is specifically able to target a cruiserweight match and compare its ratings to a main event match. WCW usually had the CW's wrestle in hour number one but they would also insert their big nWo storyline teaser through out that hour as well. Another thing to consider is WCW being on for a full hour before Raw during those cruiserweight matches. A large portion of Raw fans would use that first hour of WCW to see what the competitor was doing and what WWE talent was jumping ship that week. Once Raw started an hour later that part of the audience moved over to WWE tv. Those factors definitely swung ratings for WCW's programming and it was all part of their plan. When I went to Monday Night Nitro I saw the sign in big neon lights above the Oakland Coliseum and it said things like nWo, Hogan, Flair, Goldberg, and Bret Hart. Whether you or I like them or not the nWo had everything to do with WCW's success with the main stream and dominating ratings and not guys like Mr JL, La Parka and Juvy. Just saying, not that I enjoyed watching Hogan vs Sting 20 on Monday Nitro but for the mass of fans that made WCW as profitable as it was, that was the draw and not the CW's.
