We open up WWE RAW tonight with no opening video package or anything, but then again this has happened many times. Instead, we hear the theme of Shawn Michaels play as the crowd begin to chant 'HBK' repeatedly, cheering for Michaels as he began to walk down the aisle with a limp, a mild-yet-not satisfied smile on his face. Michaels climbed into the ring and began to talk, being cut off by the loving audience. HBK began to talk saying that he wanted to say that Chris Jericho is still the World Heavyweight Champion. But that doesn't matter to him any longer. Michaels says that all he wanted to do was get retribution on Chris Jericho for putting him through hell, from turning his own Academy student, Lance Cade against him, to breaking his wife, Rebecca's jaw at SummerSlam. Michaels lists the things he's done to get revenge, knocking out a tooth of his last night at No Mercy, and taking him truly to the limit. Michaels begins to wrap up the interview, only to be interrupted by the theme of Randy Orton, as the man himself rears his head from the backstage area, walking down to the ring with no sling on or any bandages, in street clothes. Orton climbs into the ring and congratulates Shawn, confusingly. Orton then tells HBK he's being sarcastic, saying that Shawn was too daring, and that he should of been away from our screen many years ago. Orton tells Shawn that he even wanted to end the Showstopper's career, as he almost did last year with his punt to the head. Shawn fires back however, asking Orton when he's gonna stop running his mouth, asking Orton that since he knows how to talk the talk, why he can't walk the walk. Orton tells HBK that he could fight tonight, but unfortunately he's not cleared to wrestle for another three weeks. HBK nods his head and goes to knock Orton's head off with Sweet Chin Music only for Orton to high-tail it up the aisle!
We go to the commercials.
We go to the backstage area where we see Mike Adamle standing by with Rey Mysterio as he's discussing about a future title shot with Chris Jericho, telling Mysterio he can have the title shot if he can beat Jericho tonight! At this point, Jericho walks into the office, with a black eye as Rey walks out, the two exchanging evil looks, as Jericho asks what that was all about. Adamle informs Jericho he has a match tonight as Jericho kicks over a plant, telling Mike he's just been in a title match last night! Adamle tells Jericho he is not listening as Jericho angrily storms out.
A graphic appeared, hyping up Santino Marella defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship against the returning D'Lo Brown, tonight.
A graphic showed up, and I quote..."Did You Know? Last week's RAW was the most watched entertainment show on cable television".
We return to RAW as Santino Marella is stood in the ring with WWE Womens Champion, Beth Phoenix as Santino doodles with the audience, getting some heel heat revealing an Oklahoma City Thuner shirt. Santino mixes with D'Lo's name before showing the Honk-e-meter, reading six weeks.
Match #1: Santino Marella defeated D'Lo Brown to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship (6:08)
This match was a nice opening bout, to kick off WWE RAW, but was really utilized as a way to get Santino over as champion. D'Lo had most of the offense in this bout, as he gave Santino a big-time hammering, going through his whole arsenal as the audience dug him. Somebody finally better recognised him. Santino got in a few cheap shots, a slap to the face set D'Lo off again. D'Lo then set up for the Frog Splash but Santino acted like he stubbed his toe, the official coming over as he had D'Lo distracted and taunting to the crowd, getting up instantly and rolling Brown up for the win!
Santino Marella began to celebrate with Beth Phoenix following the match, as he began to prance around the ring, D'Lo Brown trying to get to Santino only for the official to cut him off. Santino then walked up the stumpy rampway, taunting on the stage as Beth Phoenix stands back in sudden terror, as The Honkytonk Man himself walks out in his Elvis suit, cracking Santino over the head with his accoustic guitar! Honky's theme plays as Beth attends to Santino.
We go to the commercial break.
We go to the backstage area where Jamie Noble was seen walking around, talking about how he has a match against Ted Dibiase Jr tonight, only he knows for a fact that Cody Rhodes and Manu will get involved, Noble telling himself that he needs to go and talk to Mickie about it.
A hype for the encore presentation of WWE No Mercy is seen.
Match #2: Lance Cade defeated Kofi Kingston (5:41) This was a great little match as Kofi was very over here with the fans, Lance Cade came out, not in his usual red and black trunks however, he was wearing kickpads and sporting trunks like Chris Jericho. Cade did some hard blows in this, he utilized the kickpads greatly as Kofi found it hard to be able to fire back at numerous points in the match. Cade hit a nice rockbottom-suplex combination move, but that didn't stop Kofi as Kingston did some kicking of his own, some flying-forearms but unfortunately the match ended as Cade nailed a nice sit-out rockbottom for the win.
Lance Cade celebrated after the match as he yelled and signalled that he was going to be searching for WWE Intercontinental Championship gold.
A video package about John Cena's neck injury was shown.
Match #3: Ted Dibiase Jr defeated Jamie Noble (4:34) This was a short but pretty decent bout as the two men had some time to wrestle around on the canvas as well as have some time to brawl. Cody Rhodes wasn't at ringside, but Manu was. Not too good for Noble as he was beaten on by Manu whenever he was on the outside of the ring with Dibiase forever distracting the official. Dibiase eventually locked on the Million Dollar Dream, but Noble jumped onto the middle turnbuckle, flipped backwards in a bridged pinfall but Dibiase kicked out shockingly enough but it wasn't long before it was applied again with a reversed russian legsweep follow up for the win.
Ted Dibiase Jr celebrated as Manu entered the ring with Cody Rhodes arriving on the scene. The three new generation members began to pound away at Noble before we saw Cryme Tyme rush down to the ring, brawling with Dibiase and Cody, doubleteaming Manu but John Morrison and The Miz walked out onto the stage, simply standing and laughing at Cryme Tyme, the two teams staring each other down.
We see Mike Adamle as he is standing in his office, saying that he's got another 'Adamle Original' for our next pay-per-view extravaganza, WWE Cyber Sunday in three weeks, announcing that Ted Dibiase Jr and Cody Rhodes will be defending the World Tag Team Championships against either John Morrison and The Miz, Cryme Tyme or Jamie Noble and a partner of his choice. He also announces that Santino Marella will defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against either The Honky Tonk Man, Kofi Kingston or Lance Cade.
Match #4: Kane defeated William Regal (5:02) This was not as much of a squash as you'd assume, these two men put on a hard-hitting match, both men hitting some stiff shots in on each other, the Englishman just didn't go down easy however. Kane was obviously upset from losing to Rey Mysterio at No Mercy, so he was out there to try and get another win for his streak. Regal meanwhile, was just there to make Kane look good, unfortunately it didn't work out at its best as Regal stiffed and got in his own offense during this bout. Regal eventually reverted to using his brass knuckles but before he could, Kane planted him with a chokeslam for the win.
We cut to the backstage area where Shawn Michaels taps somebody on the shoulder, asking them if they've seen Randy Orton anywhere. It turns out the guy was Dolph Ziggler, as Shawn awkwardly accepts the handshake, Dolph refusing to let go with a smirk on his face. HBK slightly taps Dolph in the chest, telling Dolph he's going to go find him. Ziggler still smirks as we cut away.
We go to a commercial break.
Match #5: Jillian Hall defeated Kelly Kelly (4:22) This was a tiny match but it showed some improvement on Kelly Kelly's part but the fans just did not have time for this match, but it's pretty obvious the match would of been short. Jillian got in some nice shots, Kelly sold some for herself too, Jillian has impressed me so much, if only they'd drop that awful singer gimmick. Kelly did his standing-backflip clothesline she does, but that didn't stop Jillian from hitting a crossbody followed by her awesome 450 splash for the win.
Jillian began to sing after the match, singing 'I am the champion' before Candice Michelle came out and went after Jillian, Mickie James getting involved too, the three women fighting.
We see Rey Mysterio walking down a corridor getting ready, as we see Chris Jericho on the other side of the screen getting ready, as a graphic tells us that the main event is up next.
Match #6: Rey Mysterio defeated Chris Jericho in a non-title match (9:59) This was a fantastic bout between two awesome talent as Chris Jericho acted very obnoxious during this bout, simply wanting to get out of the match and have that be the end so he could get some rest following the No Mercy Ladder match from yesterday. I heard he lost a tooth in that match, ouch. Anyways, this was vintage Rey Mysterio, as Michael Cole would say, Mysterio went for many high-risk aerial attacks as well as many rollups to no success. The match came to a close as Kane's ringpost pyro went off, scaring Jericho into the ring ropes, Mysterio taking this as an opportunity and hitting the 619, hitting a springboard legdrop for the unexpected win!
Rey Mysterio began to celebrate before Kane's pyrotechnics went off on the stage, Kane making his way down to the ring and chasing Mysterio away. CM Punk then rushed down to the ring, giving Kane many kicks, sending him to the outside. Jericho goes to give Punk the Codebreaker but Punk powers him onto his shoulder, laying him out with the GTS! Punk celebrates.
Following the match, we see Randy Orton in the parking lot, preparing to get into his car when Shawn Michaels jumps him as the crowd pops, officials are yelling, trying to make it stop but unfortunately the two men brawl on Orton's windshield, Shawn slamming Randy into his car as Orton shoves HBK into the wall before officials finally break it up. Mike Adamle screams that at Cyber Sunday, it'll be Shawn Michaels vs Randy Orton in either a steel cage, a street fight or a first blood match! The two try to go at it again as RAW goes off the air...
