Reading through some responses in the thread stickied above about the new Edge exclusive, it seems like a lot of people are saying the figure isn't really "classic" enough to be considered a Classic Superstars exclusive. Yet right away two Classic's come to mind and they are the CS 11 Hogan and CS 22 McMahon. Now clearly the McMahon classic could be said to be based off WM 22 for example and the Hogan could be based off 2005 for example. So really when you think about it, this Edge is really kind of classic.

Why would it be Classics though?

thats just cause 90% of the kids on here don't know what the word "classic" means.
from websters.com "serving as a standard of excellence : of recognized value" or "historically memorable"
really when looking at the definition this figure does fit into the classics.

I honestly dont care what line its in im just happy its being made!! +1 and THANK YOU. Who gives a crap about what the package reads? If it were a shitty lackluster repaint/rerelease Edge in CS carding with the same old WHC belt, yeah I guess you could bitch about it, but this fig looks amazing and would look brilliant in a CS card hanging MOC next to the likes of Hogan, Warrior, HBK, Flair, etc.

The word classic connotes antiquity or enduring through the years, which is the sense in which many fans of the line, myself included, expect the line to adhere to. The Hogan and McMahon, in this case, may be considered exceptions rather than the rule. Regardless of what you wish the word 'Classic' in the title of the series 'Classic Superstars' to mean, it is a rather petty issue to get pedantic about.

I don't care if it will be labelled a classic figure or not, I'm just glad they're coming out with this awesome figure!

Sorry mate i disagree, it is NOT classic. Hogan and Shane were still years before him. Shanes worn that kind of attire for so long and hogan wore that in the earlyish 000's. Edge got that only like 2 years ago. How can we allow a 2006 event with say a 1980s event? We have to discriminate somewhere in there between classic and modern.

first ever MITB, now 8x world champ, not to mention all his previous titles (IC, 100x Tag)... he's a classic whether anyone wants to accept it or not.

All "Classic" means to me is that at TRU which is the only place around here that carries them anymore, I have to pay $3 more and the packaging is harder to open.
That said, Edge and Cena had the feud of the post Rock/Triple H period and that was the attire Edge wore in their most memorable match.
I would have preferred a two-pack with Cena in his Camo shorts but I will be getting this figure.

I think it deserves to be a classic also, and i'm glad that it will be his first classic.
I just hope it comes out looking just like the Protos. That jacket and title belt just add to the fig to make it look awesome.
