I had the Wrestlers of the World figures when I was a kid: they came in gift sets with two figures and a red plastic ring with white posts. It was actually a really good ring, similar to the AWA Remco ring, and they were only something like ten bucks a set at Big Lots. The names are hard to remember now, though: I remember Tennessee Terry (guy in blue cloth outfit), Tommy Hawk (the guy with the mohawk), Super Sam was the name of the guy in the red cape. I think the guy with the knot-top was named "Bad Boy" or something like that and he came with a yellow "leopard print" singlet-style outfit. The guy with the long black hair and mustache had a mint green cloth outfit.
Those were really great figures, easily the best dollar-store style "generic" figures ever produced, in my opinion. The playability was actually a notch above the Remcos and way better than the LJNs of the time.

GoldenHulk Got this off of eBay a while back: The ring is in the box, although I've never tried to put it together. Definitely have to agree with you. These, along with the Soma wrestlers, are easily the cream of the generic wrestling figure crop. Too bad they didn't make a second series. Would love to get complete figures of all.

Yes, that brings back a lot of memories. The only downside I remember is having to have so many of those rings because that was the only way to get the figures! I played with these as a kid, so the rings are long gone, but I still have a few of the figures somewhere. I had forgotten about Tomahawk's outfit.
Very cool to see the pics of the box for the first time in about two decades!

Awesome post. My favorite is "Masked Evil". I also enjoy the Hurricane one. I did not enjoy the Attitude edition Paul Stanley...lol

Great collection! I used to have the ring and figures that featured Tommy Tomahawk, Super Sam, Dr. Fear, and Bad Boy from Bagdahd. My brother and I used them for jobbers with our Remco AWA guys.

The Soma one are nice but the heads always reminded me of Jake from two and half men . Its the head they use on all the lines and its brutal. These and the Madison ones have to be my favorites. I wish they had put the effort in and made them look like the ones on the box , they have a little more paint apps and the Sungold arms.

Monroe , I have a few of these too but I think your paint jobs are better than mine. I know someone that may have a " Dogg" I don't have one but if its the last one you need I'll pass it along being I think I still need 4 of them and they aren't on my list of lines to knock out right away.

Meatybat
That would be appreciated. The swap meet / flea market that I bought them at was missing the "Dogg" the day I bought them and they never restocked. That was the one and only place I ever saw them. That was over ten years ago, but I still check there every once in a while, with 0 luck. Too bad about the paint jobs on yours. (WCW ToyBiz flashbacks! LOL) Where did you find them and when?

I think yours are just better paint schemes than mine. I love the one guy looks like it says MEAL on his top . I pmed the guy last night and I'm waiting to hear back. He had it carded I remember . He picked me up 2 and he had a few I don't remember if he gave me his when he dumped all his Jakks Classics to me or if he couldn't find them. May have to investigate it further. I'll keep you posted .
