JJ will side with Russo.they re close and have been since the WWF. it was Russo who suggested JJ be the one to dethrone Austin in 98........ I know they have history together for sure. I had heard that about SCSA. JJ talks about him on the DVD as well. That would've been cool to see had he remained with WWF. JJ also has maintained that the whole BATB scenario had more to do with how WCW was run. yeah Jarretts DVD could be very interesting.I think Austin just flat out refused to be in a program with JJ.......and McMahon didnt go for the notion either. but I digress......I think JJ is right-it was more to do with the shambles WCW had become

Russo pitched the idea that JJ be the man to dethrone Austin Cleanly(no odds against SCSA) and be Vinces guy. Vince didnt go for this and decided instead to do the Kane/UT/Austin thing..........having Austin lose but being in an impossible situation..... and Have the Rock as his guy after the tournament. honestly I think it worked out better this way.....having Jarrett beat Vinces big money guy cleanly and his best chance against WCW(who were still on top)would have been an error. Austin was right IMO to be against it.it would have damaged him.

In Eric Bischoff's autobiography he tells what really was supposed to happen with the angle. He admits that the WCW title lost a lot of it's luster over the prior years and in order to help it regain some importance he pieced together an angle to do. Hogan would win the title at Bash at the Beach in some bizarre way and immediately retire stating he is " Tired of the bull here, he has accomplished everything he wanted to, this is my belt, kiss my ass I'm leaving bla bla bla..." A tournament would begin to crown a new champion, thus making the WCW the main focus of the promotion. It would lead up to the finals taking place at that years Halloween Havoc where 2 heels would battle it out. At the end a winner would be crowned and Hogan would come out and say hey I'm the champion and never lost let's fight it out to decide the real WCW champ. Russo due to his disdain for Hogan went into business for himself and WCW dropped the angle all together. Interesting. It's true what they say. There are three sides to every story. Their side, your side, & the truth. Bisch is also friends with Hogan so I can see him writing that. Russo of course tells a different account & soon we'll see Jarrett's side in the KOTM DVD that's due to be released in April. This sounds like a cheap plug on TNA television, haha. No offense to you; it just reads comically.

I actually really like the idea Bischoff poses in his book, but with some big tweaks. What I would have had is a title match at New Blood Rising that ended in controversy, prompting said tournament to be started.
Fall Brawl would feature the Semifinals matches in the tournament, as well as another big match to entice people to order. Semifinals would be Booker/Steiner and Jarrett/Sting, with Booker T and Jeff Jarrett advancing to the Finals at Halloween Havoc. Remember this would be their first encounter since they wouldn't have wrestled at BATB or New Blood Rising..
At Havoc Booker T and Jeff Jarrett fight tooth-and-nail in a long encounter that relays everything the World Title is supposed to be about. Eventually Book defeats Jarrett to become WCW World Heavyweight Champion for the first time in his career, an epic feel good moment that brings back prestige to the championship. After the match Hollywood Hogan shows up and fakes approval and claims now that things are organized again he's willing to come back and he is still the REAL World Champion. Havoc goes off the air with the announcers celebrating Booker's victory, saying how he is the official World Champ.
Leading into Mayhem both Booker and Hogan are parading around their respective titles, with WCW making full notice that they recognize Booker as their official champion while Hogan makes a mockery of his. They both defend their titles at Mayhem, Booker in a rematch against Jeff Jarrett and Hogan against Scott Steiner.
At Mayhem Hogan's match goes on first and he makes a bigger mockery of the belt by having yet another lay-down finish where Steiner lays down and Hogan pins him and rambles on about how everybody falls to Hollywood. Then the WCW Commissioner comes out( forget who it was at the time) and says that EVERYBODY knows Hogan isn't the real champ and he's sick of him carrying around a paper title. Eventually Hogan agrees to give up his fake title in exchange for a title shot against the real World Champion, Booker or Jarrett, at the following PPV, Starrcade.
Hogan then takes a seat at ringside for the main event of Mayhem, Booker/Jarrett. Booker successfully defends the Heavyweight Title against Jarrett in a clean finish and he and Hogan stare off to end the show.
The match is set for Starrcade: Booker T defending the Heavyweight Championship of the World against Hollywood Hogan on the grandest stage of them all. Leading into the match Booker is hyped as the " future", the modest champion who's putting the company on his back and carrying it into the future. Hogan doesn't give a damn about the company and wants the belt back " just because its his" so that he can make more of a mockery of it. Hogan even says he's putting his career on the line because he's so sure he'll win. If he doesn't win he'll retire forever. Booker's promos include him saying he's going to lead a new ethic in wrestling, one that doesn't include laydowns, refusing to compete against top competitors, and other normal Hogan politiquing.
Finally the night comes, Starrcade 2000, where Booker successfully defends the World Title against Hogan and retires him " for good", giving him an immense rub. The match itself is huge and the victory for Booker even bigger. After the match Hogan shakes Booker's hand, takes the mic, and puts him over as the man to lead WCW into the future, officially passing the torch over to him in his final match.

Now that makes more sense than the Bash at the Beach 2000. At least, it would have looked a lot better. I like it.
