Austin needed to be written out of the storylines for major back/neck surgery. So they decided to have HHH/Rikishi run him down and take him out of the storylines.

So they decided to have HHH/Rikishi run him down and take him out of the storylines. there you go! couldn't have said it better! Although saying that, we never got a HHH, Rock and Austin triple threat match which was a huge shame. Also big show winning the title was a nice thing to do - however to feud with the bossman over it was poor booking.

i always thought it would have been HBK, getting revenge on Austin after losing to him in his last match before he left.

I don't think Rikishi was always meant to be the drive. In fact, I think that was a really stupid move on creatives part to work Rikishi into it at all. He was a comedy character and always meant to be a comedy character. He had no business in a feud with Austin and it just never felt right.

I think the only reason they chose Rikishi was because they realised it would be too predictable if they revealed it was HHH, and too unrealistic if they revealed it as Rock.

They should have had Jericho do it. He would've been a huge heel and a main event star back in late 2000.

they definetly didn't capitalize on a golden opportunity. i mean, rikishi? should've just been hhh.

Was Rikishi alwasy going to be the driver? Nope. I don't know when that decision was made, but it definitely wasn't at Survivor Series 1999. If I'm remembering right, Rikishi hadn't even been back on TV yet or had maybe only just started back. But they definitely wouldn't have known his new dancing scammer character was going to get popular enough to still be around and in a major role a year later. I think it was sucky on WWE's part to promote that Austin/Rock/HHH match (which I'm still sorry we never saw) when they knew at least a week in advance that Austin wasn't going to be able to wrestle.

Big Show was an absolutely awful replacement... That whole PPV blew. It was kinda like a crappy show that would've been anchored by an awesome main event. But then they pulled the rug out.

On October 9, Commissioner Mick Foley used a slip of the tongue from Scotty 2 Hotty to implicate Rikishi as the person who had run over Stone Cold Steve Austin at Survivor Series, as Scotty stated that he had been hanging out that night with Grand Master Sexay and Rikishi. However, Foley stated later that night in the ring that Rikishi at that point had not debuted yet. In actuality, this is not true, as Rikishi had debuted on the Saturday night before the '99 Survivor Series on WWF Jakked.

Well the interesting thing is at Survivor Series King said it was definitely a blonde headed person driving the car, so Rikishi in the end makes sense. I personally thought it was a good storyline for Rikishi. He was loved by the fans for so long and then turned his backs on the fans when he was revealed as the driver and him doing it so that Samoan wrestlers could get the spotlight was not bad at all.
