I gotta say Shawn Michaels.
John Cena's only been big since 05, but he's been the biggest thing since, so he's debatable.
Edge is nowhere near. 8 stolen championhips over 3 years is nothing to be proud of especially when theyre all transitional.
Jericho is Debatable like John Cena. When Y2J has the title, he's a force to be reckoned with, but Jericho is just a midcarder without it. And while 2008 has been great for him some would say, its been just as embarassing. He still hasent beaten John Cena. 2009 isnt any better with this current legends storyline
Triple H is probably second. He's done everything this decade, been in all the main events, just not to the fans approval. Still doesnt mean he hasent been there.

Do some of you people here ever get sick of blowing HBK's whistle? And I can't pick just one.The Rock was iconic by 2000,Stone Cold had another great year in 2001 and guys like Eddie,Angle&Rey carried the match work of Smackdown in 2002 beautifully. HHH was stinking up Raw in 2002-2003 and Raw became upgraded when Hollywood Rock returned. Team Angle,Los Guerreros and John Cena did fine on Smackdown in 2003.Brock Lesnar too. Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero shined in 2004. HBK/Shelton was awesome,Eddie Guerrero was cool as normal and Christian's fun mic work stood out in 2005.So did Hogan's return. Angle/Taker showed their chemistry together and Shelton Benjamin again was the MITB's performance highlight in 2006.Edge/Cena's TLC gimmick match gets praised. John Cena/HBK had Raw match of the year,CM Punk stood out on ECW working with Burke&Morrison and MVP&Matt Hardy kept Smackdown watchable between July-November 2007. Shelton Benjamin never lost his working boots and was having good matches w/Jeff Hardy,Matt,Kofi,Hurricane, etc. And a cast of other guys looked good in single matches like Jeff,HBK,HHH, Cena,Jericho,Batista,Edge, etc Shawn Michaels character may have been tweaked a bit by his religious restrictions....but when it comes time for show time, nobody puts on better WRESTLING MATCHES than Shawn Michaels. That's BS.

My first thought would be Triple H, based on his explosion into the main event scene from 2000-2002. As far as performance, I'd give it to Shawn Michaels. You can't even begin to mention guys like Cena, Guerrero, Benoit, Orton, etc. You've got to look at the whole decade.

HBK has had some of the best matches, doesn't matter if he wasn't wrestling in 2000-2001 when he returned in 2002 he had already made a huge splash. you can't name a bad HBK match. he could carry a rock in a match.

Well, to me he ain't. -I won't stop until his marks stop thinking every match of his is "5 stars" or better than anything else.Like for example,Taker& Batista from Wrestlemania 23 completely burns Cena&HBK but HBK is so overpraised for his Wrestlemania work some folks call Cena&HBK "match of the night". -Okay,if it doesn't matter for HBK then it shouldn't for anyone else. -Not bad matches but I can name overrated matches.I can name boring matches. -Yeah,sure he can carry a rock.A broomstick too, huh? Oh my fault. That's something only Ric Flair can do.So they say...

Angle, no question for me. He can mix it up in any fashion, he has excellent mic skills, he makes it all look real, he's never had a bad match (even against Steiner!), and he is a real Olympic champion. I don't see how it could be any clearer. I agree that HBK is overrated. I feel like all of the "Showstopper, Mr. Wrestlemania" propaganda is starting to brainwash people. He is great, no doubt, but not the best.

It hasn't even been more than a decade into the century and we're already talking about definitive performers of the 21st century?
Lets take a trip back to 1910.. What was the definitive invention of the 20th century? Umm... Well, if you do it like that you miss the TV, the cell phone, the color TV, the internet, CDs, Napster...
Let's wait til atleast 2050 before we even talk about this :-p

He is great, no doubt, but not the best. I think it's just so impressive because of how he came back. When he retired in 1998, he was done. He had a drug problem and a back that was a long way from healing. For him to come back four-plus years later and put on some of the best, most entertaining matches of any performer really speaks to his ability.

He's done everything this decade, been in all the main events, just not to the fans approval. Still doesnt mean he hasent been there. edge has been the single most over heel since 2005 period. orton and jericho have both been hot since late 08 but both of those guys have not got the heat edge has. hbk has only captured 1 world title since 2002 and thats pathetic to me. his lack of passion for being a world champion sours me on him. hhh lost alot of his thunder in 05 when edge turned heel and took his spot as wwe's go to villan. hhh has been very stale since cena just can't seem to get the majority of fans to like him. his matches are decent and his title runs have been loathed......... while he was a babyface! edge has held every major championship on numerous occasions this decade. here is a small list won 2 tlc matches at wrestlemania 2 time mr. mitb captured the ic title 4 times became the us champion unified the us and ic titles beat john cena is boston to retain the wwe title created his own spinner title stole matt hardys girlfriend retired matt hardy from raw in a great ladder match winning the fued. 4 time world heavyweight champion 4 time wwe champion king of the ring 2001 slammy for couple of the year with vicki won the tag titles with benoit, christian, rey, orton and hulk hogan! triple crown champion show me someone who has done all of this in one decade! his runs may be transitional but they are for a purpose and gett he job done. he does a great job of making the belt look like the most important thing in world.
