Even thought there is a rapper in my sig, I do like some country. Id suggest Brad Paisley or Brooks & Dunn.

I'm from Oklahoma so...Haha yeah.
But I can't stand stuff like Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, etc.
I listen to old stuff, my favorite artist is Ernest Tubb. For those of you who might not know who Tubb is, he pretty much created the honky tonk sound that's still popular to this day. Songs like "Walking the Floor Over You," "Thanks A Lot," "Yellow Rose of Texas," and "Hello World," might be well over 3 to 4 decades old but are still better than half the crapNashville is pumping out.
My favorite recent artist is Justin Townes Earle. He's the son of Steve Earle, I'd highly recommend checking out his newest album Midnight at the Movies.
I also love Steve Earle, Hank Sr, Hank III, Dale Watson, Conway Twitty, Johnny Dilks, Lefty, Old Crow Medicine Show, Trampled by Turtles, Flatt and Scruggs, etc.

While I absolutely hate country music, I must say that the genre does the best job at telling stories through music.

I can't stand the radio brand, but some of the older, genuine, "outlaw"ish stuff isn't bad at all. I love stuff like Merle Haggard, Steve Earle, Justin Townes Earle, OCMS, etc.

I love country. I like everything from Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, Randy Travis, Bocephus, and Garth Brooks to Blake Shelton, Brad Paisly, Shooter Jennings, and Taylor Swift and a lot of bands/singers in between. Country is great drinking music, and a lot of the songs tell some awesome stories.

I can't stand what is played on the radio, unless it is a flashback show with classics or George Strait. Brooks and Dunn is ok some times. I used to be into Dwight Yoakam way back. The best of the genre is long gone, besides Strait. I guess it was best put by George Jones in a song called "Who's gonna fill their shoes"

Although I don't listen to any, I do admit that it's a genre that gets you dancing when it can.

I hate to say it but I think Johnny Cash is overrated.
After his death and that God awful movie people that never would have gave Cash the time of day were super fans over night.
It's not that I don't like him, I enjoy the newer stuff, but I really prefer the stuff he did with Sun.
Oh, and whoever mentioned Junior Brown, awesome. Such a great singer and guitar player.

Some of you guys should check out the band "Those Poor Bastards" I have all 5 of their ablums, their best either being "Satan Is Watching," or "Songs of Desperation."
If hell had country music, it'd either be those guys or Garth Brooks.
