TNA is now the opposite of WWE when it comes to booking. In fact, they already have the main events booked for Bound for Glory in October.
There have been attempts of late at cost-cutting internally, not jobs but office expenses and travel have been the recent target. Some revenue streams that were expected to help out aren’t expected to come through this year. Their new line of action figures is on hold until Jakks Pacific loses the WWE license and can start here, although that was known in advance when the deal was made. While Midway has announced a second year version of the TNA video game, there is, let’s say, skepticism that it will actually take place given Midway’s financial situation. In addition, the company that handles TNA DVD’s is in bad shape financially, and overall DVD sales aren’t strong.
They are encouraged by the ratings increases of late and the belief is Lockdown will probably do the best numbers for a TNA PPV show since last year’s Lockdown, which is a guess I’d make as well.
While Kevin Nash always acts like stuff rubs off his back, he was visibly furious at recent tapings at Eric Bischoff, for calling him “Big Lazy” in a recent interview.
Velvet Sky recently had breast enlargement surgery.
Dixie Carter was talking with Lisa Varon (Victoria) at the UFC show and we know that there has been interest in bringing her in since she left WWE.
Ayako Hamada is expected to debut at the next set of tapings. Both her name and Sarah Stock’s name have been talked about for months as far as the replacement top babyface for Gail Kim. Hamada is the younger daughter of Gran Hamada. She can work far better than anyone they have, but I don’t know about her English. She’s 28 and has been wrestling for 11 years, and was pushed as a star from the start. She was world champion for All Japan women before they went down, and later for Gaea and Arsion in Japan as well as for the UWA and IWRG in Mexico.
