Doctor Who is set to meet Hollywood if the latest rumours to hit TV Towers are true. According to reports, Hollywood actress Claire Bloom is set to appear in David Tennant's final episode - as the Doctor's mum. The 78-year-old actress found fame when she was chosen by Charlie Chaplin to appear in his 1952 film, Limelight. Claire was also known for a couple of high-profile romances with stars such as Richard Burton and Laurence Olivier. The actress is expected to appear in the upcoming festive two-parter, to be screened on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. A friend told the Daily Mail: "The script is a very closely guarded secret as the producers are desperate for Claire's appearance to be a surprise." The BBC have declined to comment, but Claire's manager Marion Rosenberg added: "It is happening. They are filming at the moment." The story will see David Tennant's Doctor clash with old enemy The Master, played by John Simm. The X-Files actress Gillian Anderson is also rumoured to appear as The Rani. Word is that the Doctor will battle more Time Lords after discovering they have become evil. But which side his mother will be on is unclear. Companions Donna (Catherine Tate), Martha (Freema Agyeman), Captain Jack (John Barrowman) and Sarah Jane (Lis Sladen) are also set to return, while Matt Smith will make his debut when the Doctor regenerates. An insider said: "The producers are throwing everything they've got into Tennant's finale. He will go out with a bang." This is gonna be beyond amazing

Im actually pretty excited for this. I really liked the episodes with the Master, it was a refreshing change from Daleks and Cybermen in the finale, so this should be good. Still prefer Eccleston to Tennant tbh

Daleks or Cybermen will probably be in 1 of those eps I hope not, they are being so over used and the Daleks were used on the last series finale (gotta admit, Davros kicked intergalactic ass)

Rose shouldn't be in it, she's finished,. and has nothing else left to give because if she's in this one, she would have to die or be with Matt Smith. Daleks are also gone for a while I think, getting bored of them.
However Donna I'm all for, same for The Rani

Sounds like a real must-see i hope Matt Smith will be able to fit the role well Tennant without doubt was the best doctor, and it will be hard to see if the future episodes will be as good but i'm looking forward to them nonetheless
Is the next series in 2010 starting around march as per usual?
