NWL.com 2010 SEASON PREVIEWYes, this has been a very interesting few months for the National Wrestling League. It is also interesting to see how much a league can change in a few short months. Many players have changed teams and the rosters have expanded. People have left the NWL and some have come in. But, as we move past the off-season and into our sophomore year as a company, what will these great competitors have in-store for us? We can only imagine for now, but sooner rather than later, we will find out the reality of the matter. But first, let's take care of what happened in the past few months for each team!
BOSTON BRAWLERS - The Brawlers have added quite a few youngsters onto their team this year and they look to hopefully improve from the worst record in the league. After drafting the likes of X Jack, X Matt, Cody Rejero & Grizzly Bear, the Brawlers added veteran Marcus Jones to the team to beef up the roster. Steve Corino, new captain after the departure of Tim Smith, is looking to get his team out of the basement and into contention! Will this youngster movement pay-off for Boston? PREDICTIONS: 3RD IN THE EAST; 6TH OVERALL
CHICAGO WARRIORS - Assassin and the Chicago Warriors have done the least amount of movement this off-season, but there wasn't much to improve on. With the team of Assassin, LyNN, Brian Thompson and newly drafted Zeke, Chicago looks to add to their record from last year. Also, they have added depth to their minor league system with Daniel Idol & Blaze. Will the lack of movement affect the outcome of the Warriors season in a negative way? PREDICTIONS: 2ND IN THE WEST; 3RD OVERALL
LAS VEGAS BLITZ - Another team that is looking to improve and getting out of the basement in their league are the Las Vegas Blitz. Trace Demon did his team right this year by drafting some good talent like Derrick Jones and Sam Kineval. I expect these two to be in the majors shortly. Also, the addition of Tyler Black from free agency only adds another strong veteran to this squad. Will the Blitz be able to recap from last years meltdown? PREDICTIONS: 3RD IN THE WEST; 5TH OVERALL
LOS ANGELES MOST WANTED - There wasn't MUCH improvement for the 2009 NWL 'Series Invitational' Champions, Los Angeles, but they have shaped their roster very differently this season. In the draft, they added Richie Stevens, Silas McGahey, and Jack Richardson. In a big move, they added big time competitor Evan Pagano from the Crush, but lost Devin Curtis to the Crush. And finally, at the end of the off-season, they released Jason Williams, who seems to be dead weight. Will this team be able to repeat their success from last season? PREDICTIONS: 1ST IN THE WEST; 2ND OVERALL
NEW YORK CRUSH - Another team who did a ton of spending in the off-season was the New York Crush. Still lead by now-normal Mike Bockwinkel, the Crush made their biggest splashes during free agency, by signing veteran Devin Curtis. Also signing was Drew Parkland, Kaci Montgomery & Keeley Matthews. Meanwhile, the Crush also signed all of their draft picks as part of their 'Far East Initiative'. Will this wild spending pay-off this season? PREDICTIONS: 2ND IN THE EAST; 4TH OVERALL
TRI-STATE EVOLUTION - Last but not least are the Tri-State Evolution, another team who did some massive spending this year. Signing all of their draft picks and then some in the off-season, Evolution certainly has added depth in their roster. Free Agency wise the Evolution has picked up Petey Williams & D-Jack. The big question this year, will Matt Justice be able to repeat his success from last year? PREDICTIONS: 1ST IN THE EAST; 1ST OVERALL

In my view I don't think Tri-State is at the top really they only got Duan, Petey and Matt which is fine, the brawlers will do bad if thier young tallent dosn't step up, NY is looking very strong with some good youngsters, however I feel Blitz will go well this year with thier line up of Demon/King/Hammers/Black, good luck and keep this up

...PRESENTS: NWL LIVE! Los Angeles, CA 06/04/10 - 7:00 PM Attendance: 7,000 (SELLOUT)
Well folks, it's official! We are back in action for the 2010 season, live in front of a sold out crowd in Los Angeles, where we kick it off right where we ended 2009! I'm Jimmy Pietrafesa and its good to see you fans again tonight! Many faces have changed teams and a few new additional faces have been added to rosters. Tonight, the NWL returns with 6 matches on the menu, so let's get right down to business!
vs. Match #1; Evan Pagano [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. Drew Parkland [New York Crush] - After 16:54 of action, to kick off the 2010 season for the NWL, the home crowd continued their cheers from last year, as newly acquired Evan Pagano shut down his former team's new competitor, Drew Parkland. The match itself was pretty decent, but Parkland came off as unprofessional. Pagano used his speed to take the southern down and he eventually finished him off with The Calling.
vs. Match #2; Tyler Black & Kenny King [Las Vegas Blitz] vs. Cameron Stone & Marcus Jones [Boston Brawlers] - After 13:12 of action, the Blitz showed why a new acquisition can make a difference here tonight, as Tyler Black helped his team win after he set up Stone for Kenny King's King's Coronation. This tag match was pretty much all Blitz and the two guys on the Brawlers side didn't mesh well as a team. King & Black fed off each other and even worked together until the end of the match. Decent action, but fell short of a good match.
vs. Match #3; Brian Thompson [Chicago Warriors] vs. Sean Shafer [Tri-State Evolution] - After 20:32 of action, in his official return match in the NWL, Sean Shafer once again ruled supreme in a NWL ring, after he nailed Thompson with an Augustan Heat. Whatever was bothering Shafer's shoulder at the end of last year, it looks to be officially healed, as he was flying around the ring pretty well. Thompson tried to keep up with Shafer, but he just wore him down. Once the time came, Shafer nailed the Augustan Heat, which the crowd really enjoyed. Match of the night thus far.
- Intermission -
- A video recapping the entire post-season was shown. It included draft highlights, award highlights and a recap of new acquisitions for every team!
vs. Match #4; Trace Demon [Las Vegas Blitz] vs. Assassin [Chicago Warriors] - After 16:28 of action, these two familiar faces put on a pretty decent match for this Los Angeles crowd, but it was Trace Demon who handed Chicago their second loss tonight. Assassin had a few spots in the match to take a big advantage on Trace, but didn't capitalize and this really hurt him. Trace saw an opening at the 16 minute mark and drilled Assassin with a Demonstration of Hell, which got Trace the victory for his team!
vs. Match #5; Kevin Hart & Mike Bockwinkel [New York Crush] vs. Kevin Shamrock & Matt Justice [Tri-State Evolution] - After 25:34 of action, the tandem of Hart & Bockwinkel got their team their first win of the season for the Crush, after Kevin Hart locked in a Sharpshooter in the center of the ring on Kevin Shamrock. This was definitely the match of the evening and the crowd was pretty into it. There was just something about the chemistry of these four experienced competitors that made this match so good. Matt Justice tried to keep his team in the match, but he just fell short to the duo of the Crush.
vs. Match #6; Ace Bennett [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. Steve Corino [Boston Brawlers] - After 22:48 of action, the MVW, Wrestler of the Year and part of the 'Series Invitational' winning team showed his stuff here tonight, as Ace Bennett was able to continue his roll from last year here, by defeating newly captain of the Brawlers, Steve Corino. Sure, Corino gave it his all in this match, but the crowd and Bennett's skill was just too much to handle tonight. Ace eventually got the final win of the evening after nailing the Syracuse Drop on Corino, out of nowhere, and got the three count. Another good match to end the evening!
- We join you folks next tomorrow in New York for the first time this season and see you great LA fans next on the 27th of June! Get your tickets now!

- First loss of the season? Don't worry Mister Parkland, you fell to a worthy opponent. The Force is strong in this one. - Hm Black and King teaming together... NWL is Bizzaro World. - Back to back losses for The (Ultimate?) Warriors. - NYC gains the points with Hart & myself. Of course. Well played, Sir. - Ace certainly lives up to his name.
Now that the season's started I'd like to announce that for Curtis, Parkland, Hart & myself, (and the minors), that contract extentions will come if you develop a winning streak of my chosing.
Good opener duaner, reply to LLE? ( get it off page 2)

The second season is finally here! Anyway, sad to see Parkland lose to Pagano, but like Bockwinkel said, he lost to a worthy opponent. Nice to see Bockwinkel and Hart pick up the win for NY. Can't wait for the next show, duaner. Hopefully Devin Curtis will be in action. Keep it up, man.

Oh Brawlers lose twice, this sucks I hope we don't come last as I will not be happy, lol. Great show anyway, not surprised to see Corino lose to Ace but I wanted the tag win. Hopefully X Jack or X Matt can get on the next show.

I am so glad NWL Season 2 has started. Sucks with just got back to back loses. Hopefully as the season continues, our record will be good like last season. Hopefully, next show we can win. I am liking Season 2 so far, (aside from the back to back loss.)

I am actually very shocked to see Kevin Shamrock and I lose our match as I really thought you were going to build up Tri-State as a monstrous team. Hopefully, lighting strikes twice and I can eventually regain my success from last season. At least Sean Shafer can win a match for the squad.

...PRESENTS: NWL LIVE! New York, NY 06/05/10 - 8:00 PM Attendance: 7,000 (SELLOUT)
Welcome to the city that NEVER sleeps folks! We are back in New York for the 2010 season and tonight should be chock full of action! I'm Jimmy Pietrafesa, as always, and tonight, the Crush look to make their 2010 homecoming worthwhile with two wins in our 5 matches tonight! Let's get right to the action!
vs. Match #1; X Jack [Boston Brawlers] vs. Tom Diamond [Los Angeles Most Wanted] - After 14:58 of action, the two youngsters here put on a pretty good show to kick off the season in New York, but it was the rookie X Jack who took the match home after he crushed Diamond with a move here calls 'The X'. Jack looked fabulous in his debut for the NWL and Diamond looked decent also. The match was pretty fast paced and the crowd really liked that.
vs. Match #2; Duan Sanchez Jr. & Matt Justice [Tri-State Evolution] vs. Kenny King & Tyler Black [Las Vegas Blitz] - After 16:22 of action, the team of Black & King, who teamed last night, fell short here against the Evolution, after Duan Sanchez Jr. crushed NWL newcomer Tyler Black with a SGM. Justice & Sanchez have some experience tagging together and that made a big difference in the match. Although they looked great last night, the Blitz team seemed a bit off tonight and this lead to a loss for them!
- Afterward, Black walked to the back without waiting for his partner. Here we go again with the Blitz.
vs. Match #3; Zeke [Chicago Warriors] vs. Devin Curtis [New York Crush] - After 09:21 of action, in a pretty unequal match here, Devin Curtis was able to make his New York debut worthwhile, as he put down the newcomer Zeke with a 450 Splash. Zeke didn't see too much offense in his first NWL match and Curtis really looked electrified for his New York debut. The crowd was very into him and cheered him throughout and Zeke became overwhelmed.
- Intermission -
- The same recap video from last night was shown. It overviews the entire off-season.
- A whole load of new NWL merchandise will be made available throughout the season.
vs. Match #4; Kevin Shamrock & Sean Shafer [Tri-State Evolution] vs. Red Dragon & Ace Bennett [Los Angeles Most Wanted] - After 23:49 of action, these four men put on a pretty decent tag team match, but, in an upset, Sean Shafer was able to get the Evolution another tag win tonight after catching Red Dragon with the Augustan Heat. The Most Wanted duo had most of the offense here, but at the end of the match, it was Shafer who turned the match around. The crowd was stunned to say the least.
vs. vs. vs. Match #5; Steve Corino [Boston Brawlers] vs. Mike Bockwinkel [New York Crush] vs. Trace Demon [Las Vegas Blitz] vs. Assassin [Chicago Warriors] - After 26:59 of action, in the first fatal four way of the year, Assassin took care of business for his team and got their first win of the season, after he derailed Steve Corino with an Assassin's Way. These four captains put on a nice showing for a main event and all preformed very well. The crowd was shocked to see Assassin take the victory and a bit disappointed that their captain came out flat here. Either way, it was a great way to end the evening with a ton of action everywhere!
- We rejoin you 5 days from now in Boston, MA! Also, we join you New Yorkers next month on the 2nd of July! See you folks soon!

Nice to see Devin Curtis pick up his first win as a member of the New York Crush. Hopefully there are more wins to come! Too bad Bockwinkel didn't pick up the win in the main event, great match though. The next show should be great as always.
