I actually liked Triple H from 1997-1998. I'm one of the few who doesn't care for his "I'm angry and growl and have a sledgehammer" gimmick. The comedic HHH was definitely the most entertaining IMO.

I don't know if HHH would have ever gotten over or not but the fact that he joined the kliq immeaditely after debuting in 1996 was certainly a brilliant career move. Those guys pretty much ran things back then and being best friends with Shawn had alot of benefits.

I think it may have taken a lot longer and perhaps he would have never become quite as big as he is now.
His "in" with the clique definitely helped him, but then again, Waltman was with the kliq and Justin Credible was a clique buddy and never made it huge in WWE.
HHH is a solid worker with a good look and all, but I think it would have absolutely taken him a lot longer to get tp upper-mid card or main event if he hadnt been buddies with HBK and especially if DX didn't happen.
Its an interesting concept, though, really, its very possible he would have never been a huge deal at all if he hadnt been in DX w/ HBK.
