I honestly don't like either one, not my taste in style nor my taste in what a good figure should look like. You can still see the blue on the Tyson shorts as well as the white material used to sculpt the trunks. The head & tats look decent though. The resculpting of the legs looks really good accept for the color difference which is the major flaw of this figure.
Dream if you were gonna modify the the Duran head to match the reference picture by adding a beard you should have also redid the hair to match it. The molding on the top of the trunks looks decent though. As for painting you still have yet to get a good skintone color down and just overall the painting looks very rushed.
It's really hard to decide on a winner here but i'm going to go with...
MWL aka SuperWarrior because the figure just looks somewhat cleaner (sorry Dream I know you can do much better.)

ok soooooo im not a regular here on this board, but im kind of bored so i guess i'll vote.
Superwarrior: Ok the paint is really blotchy on this figure. the white on the gloves seems to be everywhere. i think you need to work on your precision. try to hold your hand more steady as you paint the wrist. that will give you cleaner lines and an overall better looking figure. the trunks also have some chunky and unpainted spots which ruin the look of the figure. the whole thing just looks really rushed. i feel like all of your customs have a rushed/chunky/uneven paint job. I dont mean to come off harsh or sound like an expert (because i am far from it) i just feel like you could have done better.
NyDream: Overall this figure is not too bad. the only thing i am not a fan of is the chunky paint job. but i do like the sculpting you have done. i do think you could have done better because i have seen some of your other customs and they were much neater than this one. like i said before precision painting will really help your figures stand out among the rest. also take your time on the lettering. another plus is that no colors are showing from under your colors (if that made any sense lol). well enough beating around the bush. my vote goes to...

The figure looks very good to me. One downfall for yours is that the shinny black paint isn't on every part of the shorts just some on the front and back. If it covered the entire shorts it would be better than it is. Also around the wrist some of the white paint needs to be scrapped off it's on the arm and not all on the wrist. The head scan for this figure looks very good which is a major plus. In the shorts you can still see some of the blue when you move the legs so you need to try and paint over the blue there. The short sculpt looks really good. If you fix those things your figure will look outstanding. NyDream:
Honestly I don't care for the figure at all. The skin tone looks really bad maybe try a new skin tone. On the shorts the sculpt is good. The writing on the shorts needs to be changed. As you can see in your reference pictures his writing is blue and red and is curved unlike yours that is black and straight. The hair on your figure needs to be changed it doesn't look the same as the reference pics and that makes the figure look less perfect. The paint job on your's is neat and well done. The writing is black on the attire I made him in... stop making excuses. learn to accept criticism and stop defending your shortcomings. I don't even make too many customs anymore, I have 3 figures that need minimal work (DA Drake younger, Roddy Strong and Danielson) to finish and they've been sitting there for almost a year now, but thats besides the point just incase you try to use the "do you even make customs" excuse. I'm not too fond of either of them, dream I'll give you credit that you put more work into your figure, making a skintone, and painting details, but in the end its just sloppy. Putting more work into it doesn't translate into a win if it's sloppy. The lettering looks shaky and doesn't look neat. The head is really decent though, good modding to it. The boots look decent too, but the designs and lines look sloppy. The shorts waistband sculpting is nice, looks legit. Tyson is simple compared to the Duran, but looks way more professional because of it. Those might be DA carlito boots, i'm not sure but I like how they're short, I've never seen that on a DA before. The shorts look pretty good, some nice smooth sculpting. The red is like the perfect boxing glove color red. The tatoos look pretty decent too. In the end I'll give it to Warrior. Tyson looks a lot more pro |

I honestly dont care at all about if I win or lose this. Its for fun. I dont really care.. But when he tells me it is inaccurate because he is looking at the wrong ref pic for the attire im going to say something. I dont care if it looks rushed or if I didnt work alot on it because I didnt. Im putting alot more work into a custom im working on right now thats for a match thats alot more important.
I dont care if you criticize mine its not a big deal. I was just pointing out to him that that was the wrong ref for the attire...

Putting more work into it doesn't translate into a win if it's sloppy. Actually that is how it works here for the most part, good clean customs loose out to crappy molding and clumpy paint jobs more often than not. |
