TNA issued the following press release today:
Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling Offers $7 Tickets to 'Slammiversary 7' in Detroit on June 21
TICKETS ON SALE AT ALL TICKETMASTER LOCATIONS FOR TNA WRESTLING'S 7th ANNIVERSARY PAY-PER-VIEW SHOWCASE, FEATURING MICK FOLEY, STING, JEFF JARRETT, AJ STYLES, BOOKER T, SAMOA JOE, TEAM 3D, KEVIN NASH AND MORE!
DETROIT, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling is offering an unprecedented $7 ticket plan in honor of its "Slammiversary 7" live pay-per-view event Sunday June 21, at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
TNA President Dixie Carter confirmed today that a limited number of special $7 "Slammiversary 7" tickets will be sold to celebrate the event.
"In honor of TNA's seventh anniversary, we're happy to offer tickets to 'Slammiversary 7' starting at $7 while supplies last," Carter said.
From TNA themselves
"We know this is a tough time economically for everyone. TNA Wrestling has always enjoyed success in Detroit and Michigan, and 'Slammiversary' will mark the first time TNA has brought a pay-per-view event to the same city twice. We believe in Detroit and its great pro wrestling fans."
"Slammiversary 7" will mark the 7th anniversary of TNA Wrestling and TNA's return to the Motor City area. TNA took its live pay-per-view events out of the "iMPACT Zone" in Orlando, Florida and on the road to Novi, Michigan for "Bound For Glory" in 2006.
The stars of "TNA iMPACT!" (Thursdays, 9 p.m. ET/PT, Spike TV) will headline "Slammiversary 7," including Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, Mick Foley, "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe, "The Icon" Sting, Detroit native Kevin Nash, University of Michigan alum Scott Steiner, Booker T, Team 3D, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and many more.
Tickets for "Slammiversary 7" are on sale at The Palace of Auburn Hills Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
They shouldn't have to hide the fact that the arena will draw piss poor attendance and they are practically giving away their tickets to get folks to show up. Last month at Lockdown, TNA gave away hundreds of tickets to walk ins and pissed off those who paid full price to see the live event. Its nothing new to TNA, They gave away several thousand tickets for Against All Odds in 2008 and TNA hasn't been seen in that town since.
