yeah, i was watching live on p-p-v. they showed nothing, it happened before the cameras went there. i remember J.R. trying to explain that this was not a "wrestling angle". i remember taking a walk the next day and people in my neighborhood were all talking about it. still have pretty bad feelings about over the edge '99. i was fairly young so i guess it just stayed with me.

I was actually at a WCW event when it happened. I remember Benoit and Malenko coming out and they didnt look like they typically do. They just kinda walked out with their head down and defended the tag titles and went through the motions. I didnt really put 2 and 2 together until the next morning where I heard on Sportscenter that Owen died.
The 2nd clip is from Over the Edge that night, the 3rd is from Raw the next night

ive heard a rumor that the only footage of Owens death is locked in a safe never to be seen.
I loved the Hart Foundation and think Owen could of gone on to be much more than an IC champion.

This thread has reminded me how badly Owen Hart was used in 1999.

Owen was a god, and the best out of the Hart Foundation.

RIP Owen.
Nothing more to say really, it's too sad to think of his family and the great things he still could have accomplished (assuming he wouldn't retire).

It was so shocking, and still is. I remember how weird it was seeing the show go on afterwards, with many of the wrestlers clearly distraught while trying to play out their matches/storylines. Debra and Jeff Jarrett in particular were clearly in shock.

Owen (along with over the edge 1999) is the featured story on wikipedia today, which I think is pretty cool of them.

Owen's one of the guys that made me fall in love with this business. After learning about his life I feel a great deal of sorrow for Owen, his friends and family, those he worked with and knew well, and his poor kids who had to grow up without their dad around when he wanted to so desperately be there for them. So many have been lost to drugs and self-destructive behavior...and then there was Owen, a guy who was simply above all that. A legitimate family man, a fun loving prankster, and all the other characteristics we hear about from those who knew and loved him.
I'll never forget the night it happened and the following night on Raw. I was so confused since we didn't get PPV outside of the scrambled up screen. I didn't know if it was real or not as a kid. Then I saw the news later that night in my bed and just sank into my pillow. Raw is Owen opened up the hearts of these tough wrestlers on national tv. All those touching words from the guys we see week in and week out...a sobbing J.R. saying how he hoped he could be half the man that Owen was so maybe he could see him again one day...it was so powerful and really changed my outlook on certain things. I remember watching it until the very end, and when they put the final graphic up I completely lost it and balled my eyes out.
I'll never full understand it. Thank you, Owen.

I didn't watch the PPV that night or read the results online but the next morning I turned the news on and there it was. I felt like I had been punched in the gut.
I don't think I have felt that combination of shock, anger and sorrow until Eddie Guerrero passed and then Chris Benoit...

Not only did he seem to steer clear of destructive vices, he was quite frugal, according to several wrestlers, because he wanted to retire and spend time with his kids. Life seems so brutally unfair in situations like this.
