Dreamer said he wanted to go his entire career without a world championship of any sort, he was pissed that he got the old ECW belt because he wanted to be remembered as the uncrowned ECW champion.
I love Dreamer so much and I think it's going to be so sad when he leaves WWE, he won't be going to TNA though, he said so in his blog on WWE Universe.

According to the "internet dirt sheets" WWE has offered Tommy Dreamer a real life contract extension. Whether or not it's to wrestle or be GM or do something backstage like an agent like he was doing before 2005.....we'll just have to wait and see. I for one would love to see Tommy Dreamer win the ECW title on Sunday as a reward for everything he's been through in his career and his life and all the dedication he's shown to ECW and all the jobs he's done with WWE. And if he does win, having met Tommy and knowing a little bit about the REAL person, I know it would be a really emotional moment and mean a lot to him and the fans of the ORIGINAL ECW. I agree with you 100%. But, I doubt they will have him win for the simple fact, that it is not the Original ECW and therefore, I think WWE feels, only the original fans would want this, and as we know Vince believes theres only a few thousand original ECW fans left. I hope I'm wrong, because I would love to see Tommy win. Cool to know I belong to something; nicely put too, by the way, agree wholeheartedly...

I love Dreamer, I do, but he doesn't need the ECW Championship. It would be good to see him win it, but I prefer to see Christian hang onto it.

I think WWE will keep him employed behind the scenes regardless of what happens. Wasn't he a road agent a few years back before the ECW revival?

Because I find all of this interesting, I'm going to go back to a blog Tommy posted on his WWE Universe account about two weeks back. Here are the keypoints from it:
About the idea of going to TNA:
So let's sum up here. He's still going to be wrestling, and will not take a GM/announcer role. WWE offered him a new deal many months ago, and apparently he turned it down. He doesn't have a single bad thing to say about TNA.
I think Tommy is Orlando bound.

maybe he wins and there is a ladder match between cage n swagger next ppv for the vacant belt That would be good but if he is the ecw champ wouldn't he stay until he lost the title? Either way I will be kinda happy that he is retired since I was never a fan of his but it would be a nice gesture to put the ecw title on him one last time. . .

doesnt it end at extreme rules? It does now Tiffany gave him a 1-day extension. Originally, it'd be on the Saturday.

As great as it is having Christian ECW champ, I'd like to see Tommy get it. I credit WWE for actually making the ECW title interesting over the last few months. I think Dreamer could have a couple good years left in him if they stopped treating him like a jobber. I'd like to see him win the belt Sunday and turn heel...saying how he knew all along he was the best, and so on. Let him run with the ECW belt for a few months and drop it back to Christian at Summerslam in some kind of hardcore style match.
