I would have to agree with most, never called it "indy". I called it a "boarderline indy promotion"... thats about as close as it got. To me, "indy" feds aren't on TV and definitely not putting out Pay-Per-View shows.
ROH I would've considered "indy" until they started doing the Pay-Per-Views, however. But thats another discussion.

Once they started doing shows outside of the Impact Zone, like PPV's ect.. and also getting a Spike TV deal.

TNA's never really been indy they had a PPV as their first show. That isn't indy. Pretty much sums up how I feel as well. To be fair though I never started watching regularly until they started with FSN.

Never really called them indy. But I took them more seriously when they signed Hardy/even more seriously when the six-sided ring debuted.

If you are only really known by a small niche group, you are indy. TNA was indy.

Honestly, I have never considered them to be an "indy" promotion. Yeah have too agree. I started watching in about 2004. I'd say they stopped when CM Punk left.

Like everyone else said once they had a primetime slot on spike. I think they were still indy on fox sports net bc it was a terrible timeslot and it still had a very amateurish feeling. Plus after foxsports they went back to doing internet only shows for a couple months before signing with spike. A mainstream show would not have had to broadcast internet only for months.
