It may be iffy, but at least it captures the pure delight and satisfaction that raven always had on his face. Another impartial vote from the guy who wants to run the competitions! not sure what Raven matches you watched but typically he always looked miserable while sitting in the corner. oh, you didn't get it..that was yet another unsuccessful attempt from Beyondo trying to use sarcasm..he isn't good at it like Gate but he tries so darn hard... anyways as far as the head choice for Raven it isn't like I had a plethora of parts to choose from and decided "hmmm f*** the real scan JAKKs head or the TNA Raven head I think I'll use Chris Masters..." I tried to look for the Jakks head and I didn't even think of the TNA head until I saw Deens and his turned out amazing.. But there are three customs that didn't have the best head choice possible(me, famous, gate)...and if mine is going to be the only one penalized for it then so be it. It is my own fault I guess for not looking for a better head choice..

and I thought people were supposed to only post comments about the customs and not post smartass remarks. Beyondo started it..

This is definitely some great and good work from the 4 members.
TCKDEEN's Raven stands out the most as one of the best overall customs I've seen. It's perfect. Great body sculpting and paintjob.
Sandman's Raven has one of the best poses and while the head may have not been the best choice, he worked with what he had and I admire that.
GCS' Flash Funk has one of the nicer paintjobs I've seen and the sculpting looks great, but I would've sanded down the boots then used vinyl so that the boots wouldn't have been so thick.
FamousJ's JOB Squad 2 Cold Scorpio has some nice sculpting but I'm just not feeling the head at all. It looks way to overdone, and the side profile of the head is odd.
I like all four but I have to go with TCKDEEN & Sandman's Ravens. TCKDEEN's has got to be one of the best Raven's I've seen period.

I'm going to go with FamousJ/GCS. Their Scorpios are fantastic. I do not recall ever seeing a J.O.B. Squad Scorpio before, and this one does not dissapoint. The sculpting is superb, the tights colorful, and the rey torso looks great. The Flash Funk is also great, very good head combo, and love the purple. The boots are a bit awkward, but that's perfectly explainable, as I would assume one of the goals was to keep articulation intact. Personally, I would have attempted to use vinyl, but the sculpting looks good. I actually do like Deen's Raven, while I do not like the use of RA parts on posed customs, I actually like how this Raven looks, only complaint is the shoulders look odd, like not differentiated enough from the rest of the arm. I'm not into Sandman's Raven at all. The face doesn't work at all, it's all plump looking, and just doesn't carry a good likeness of the man. The clothing lacks any real sense of movement to it, it doesn't flow. With Raven posed like that, his jacket should be draping off of his body. On the figure, it's just rigid, straight up against his body. It's not natural looking. The clothing is sculpted as it would be if it were on a straight upstanding figure. The figure also appears to be missing his tattoo on his left middle finger.

Here We Go... Deen~ I honestly think that you'd be 1 of the 2 people on here that I'd vote as most improved. It's great. The arms pit area when combined with RA/DA parts never comes out pretty and I think that has been addressed numerous times. As far as the tattoo work goes, I think they look great. I have a really hard time judging tattoos because with something on this scale the work should be VERY light and faded - just like yours. I love it GREAT job. Sandy~ The pose is natural and clean. The paintjob is near perfect. The Sandman on the shirt is also perfect. When it comes to the head, maybe it's wrong but I can see what you're going for - the "Maniacal Smile". It's the smart ass expression that would flash for a millisecond between facial expressions. FamousJ~ This particular head is pretty much impossible to knock out of the park. Your head has tons of re-sculpting and for the most part it look terrific. It's easy to look at a head on your monitor and judge it - until you realize how small the details really are. It's great. The paint is FLAWLESS as usual so I'm not gonna bother going into details . Awesome work GCS~ All personal things aside, I like it. The purple seems like a strange choice but I kinda like it. I think that the head works pretty well and I love the accessories. The boots look off but if articulation and "playability " are necessary then I can see what you're going for. This would also explain the thickness in the back. A painted shadow or line on the inside would have given them a "thinner" appearance. It's a close call but I'm going with FamousJ and GCS. Clearly FamousJ pulled out the win for this team.

The first Raven is fantastic but the makeup around the eyes is a little thicker than in the ref. pic but other than that flawless. the second raven is pretty good except the face seems...off. it looks more like layne staley to me. The Flash Funk is great but i feel it needs a moustache to top it off. and the purple seems a little too..dull. seems it needs to be darker. the 2 cold scorpio is freat too but the face seems a little.....off but the sculpting on the torso and pants are incredible. great job overall

Everyone did well. Here are my comments:
TCKDEEN: My favorite figure overall out of the whole contest. The tat work, as everyone said, is pretty solid. The "posed" style custom turned out as one of the best I've seen. It's quite difficult to pull off without looking chunky and he pulled it off quite well. Love this figure.
Sandman: Excellent sculpting and paintjob, almost flawless in every way. The only thing that holds me back is the head choice (and size), both of which are important factors that affect how I would judge the figure.
GCS: Nice choice of parts and good job on the sculpting. In as much as Flash Funk's attire was a little weird, the figure captures it perfectly. The boots look terrific too. The accessories complete the figure nicely. Some people forget the importance of accessories. GCS obviously didn't. Next to Raven, this one is another one of the top figs in this set.
FamousJ: I understand the difficulty in sculpting faces, and it was not an easy task to do one for Scorpio. I'm not feeling the head, but I understand how hard it is to work on that and I'd give extra props for all the effort. The attire is also well done, really clean and well-sculpted.
Very difficult to pick a clear winner, but I would go for TCKDEEN and Sandman by just a very little margin. GCS and FamousJ have nothing to be ashamed of, they were still great.

We're still awaiting the votes from the other judges, but everyone has it pretty close so far.
I dunno about all of you but a rematch might be in the cards no matter the outcome.

I honestly cannot vote a winner. I think all of them are superb!! You 4 guys are freakin' artists!
My favorite is the first Raven...wow, just wow! Great idea with the head modding. I wish I could make a playable even half as good.
The work on both Flash and Scorpio are incredible...especially the modding of Scorpios face...just amazing.
Also the painting it just flawless on all of them...so clean and smooth.
I have to agree with Classic Collector...we all win with this thread.

The judges we all agreed on were CMD, Becca, Rozz, Gore and TXR. The three that haven't voted yet do know of the match and I am sure are going to vote when they get the chance.
I did however contact several other members in hopes that they would, not necessarily judge, but give us their opinion. I know everyone likes to get as many people voting on these things as possible so I'm gunna keep passing this on to people. Maybe if some judges don't show we can use one of the other voters as a judge.
Hopefully we'll have some kind of resolution to this soon.

I show it 2 - 2 with Skribble, RAC, Rozz, and CMD being official votes. I don't know about anybody else.

I thought skribble was an alternate anyways? I know Gate said no to RAC due to not having any knowledge of who he was but I was almost positive skribble was an alternate..

Everyone just relax, let's wait until everyone votes. I contacted a number of people so it could end up being 5 out of 9 or so. Even though we agreed on the 5 judges I figured that I would contact others to get their input cause we all love input. If some of the judges do not vote then we can use RAC or Skribbel or whoever.
It was just for fun anyways so it's not like this is going to go down as a great injustice one way or the other.

I have an enlarged Japan Scorpio head (seen painted badly here by moi) and an enlarged Raven head on the way. Just sayin'... All figures look very good. The Scorpios are figures I'd like to own. I'm not a judge, and I've seen these competitions devolve into whining, pissing and name-calling, so I'm not gonna pass any judgments other than to say nice job everyone! Wars

First off, let me apologize for my length of absence not only in this match, but on the board in general... especially with the competitions you guys have been running. I try to check out the boards occasionally but haven't logged into my account for quite some time. As you know we all have other lives and like many, I haven't been as interested in collecting as I once was.
Anyways... onto this match.
I'm rather impressed with the progression of all customizers in this one. I've known Sandman for quite some time and I am familiar with a lot of his older work. I must say, he has improved a lot since his "comeback" if you will. Deen I am not as familiar with. I have judged some of his work in the past if I recall correctly, but his newer stuff like this Raven shows his improvement and that he can hang with nearly anyone on the board.
GateCitySinner, although quite controversial is one of the better customizers here. What I appreciate most about his work is the cleanliness of it. As those who knew my work can contest, Ive always been a sucker for a custom that looks "simple" in concept, but detailed in execution. FamousJ is another customizer who has proven himself as the elite of WF. His work is always impressive and often leaves me wanting to see new work.
Deen's Raven... I really enjoy this figure. Perhaps my favorite era of Raven's after reinventing himself for the indy scene. I really like what you've done with this figure. The use of the TNA head works great with the parts used. I've never been a fan of using RA parts on posed customs, but you've really modded them nicely. Your sculpting emphasizes the stretched physique of Raven in his trademark crucifixion pose. As others have said, the arms and shoulder area look great. That is usually the place where posed customs look weak, however you sculpted it nicely over the joints while maintaining the natural flow of the body. The back of the figure I am a bit iffy on... toward the bottom of the torso and on the back of the left shoulder there appears to be some roughness. It is nothing minor, just something to point out for future customs. I like how you did the skirt, although there are places where the wrinkles look unnatural. I'm guessing the belt area was taken off the TNA figure? Please correct me if I am wrong, but that's what it seems to be from these pictures. I'm also unsure with how you did the kneepads... It almost looks like you sculpted on top of the rubber Jakks pads... Which seems odd to me, but with the skirt on top it doesn't matter much. Your sculpting work is quality... You have shown that you can throw down and hang with the good sculptors of the board... Equally impressive is the paintjob you threw on this thing. I like the skintone a lot. It is not too red and not too pale. Also it doesn't have the chalky look that many skintones do. Very natural. The tattoos on this one are very realistic looking. I would say the sword tattoo is slightly too faded, but the rest are fantastic. This is a piece that i can tell you have put a lot of work into. It reminds me of R3 posed Ravens that WF's NBT made back in 2003 and 2004. Great work my friend.
Sandman's Raven... Sandy, this Raven is quite nice. It has its obvious flaws, but also has it's points that I really enjoy. Obviously as already discussed, the head is its primary downfall. It looks a lot like Chris Masters still. Although I can see that you did a significant amount of modding to the face, I really don't see Raven in it. The nose also looks rather odd. It is round at the tip, but also seems crooked. Like I said however this issues has been beaten over already. What I like most about the head however is the hair. You captured the waviness that was Raven's mess of hair in the 90's. It does look to me as if there is a lack of detail in the hair. I can see what you did with the "snakes" but on the left side especially it just looks like there could have been more detail put into individual strands of hair. The jacket and jeans sculpting are clearly the highlights of your figure. The details you added on the collar and zipper of the jacket are fantastic. I can tell you have studied sculpting wrinkles and the flow of the jacket looks very realistic. The arms especially look very realistic. Moving down to the jean shorts, again I am impressed. There are areas that appear rough around the wrinkles which was probably difficult to sand, but when the paint is applied they kind of stick out. I like how you sculpted the frayed bottoms of the cut offs along with the stitching on the jeans' seams. Very nice attention to detail. The boots I do not care for. They look like the Rocky boot mold, and It seems to me as if you simply covered the joint without repairing the laces. What I mean is that there is a chunk on the joint of the boot which appears to be missing laces... Which should be fixed. The paintjob is rather nice here. I like what you did with the different colors on the hair. The lighter spots make it look realistic. The shirt design is fantastic. Its probably some of your better design work I have seen. The paintjob on the jeans is very nice as well. You used a few different colors and shades on there to give them the old jeans look. I think the white frayed ends should be less white, but to each his own. Other than those highlights the paintjob is fairly simple. The skintone does have that sort of chalky look I alluded to earlier. I cant say exactly what may help, but there is just a difference in the realism in the skintone on yours and on Deen's. What I also have to comment on is the photos. I really wish we could have seen a better 360 perspective of the figure. What we have here is basically three photos of the same general view. There is no picture of either side or the back. I'm not saying you have something to hide, but it would better assist the judging in seeing each and every angle. Like I said, I like this figure a lot, there are just a few areas I would like to see corrected next time around...
I'll be back next post with the other team as well as my judging decision.
