LOL@ people complaining about a lineup with Goldberg, Big Show, Sgt Slaughter, Doink, Warlord, Barbarian, Kona Crush and Steve Blackman when that would make people jazz now if that was a Legends lineup.

Would it? Most people are tired of Goldberg. Doink, Show, Slaughter, Warlord and Barbarian have all been done. A non-Demolition Crush and Blackman would take people's interest just cos they're new. (I'd buy a Mattel Blackman myself, admittedly).

Goldberg and Big Show would be needed to anchor the wave. Barbarian never had a Mattel figure.

This was unintentionally a great bump. I don’t recall that they were doing a suited Skaaland. Good thing that got cancelled.

Yes people would jazz. But back then, the CS line was nearly done and there were many people needing their rookie (1st) CS figure - Headbangers, Christian, Cornette, Mulligan, Skaaland are just a few that come to mind. Slaughter, Show, and (what became) The Barbarian were simply wasted spots; Goldberg Kona Crush and Warlord were decent and slightly different versions of their previous figures. I personally would have opted for fresh faces. Blackman was the only new face in the set not previously having a figure.

Kind of funny looking back at the old comments - definitely felt the classics line had so much more to offer
We would have gotten savage, steamboat and the von Eric’s in a year or so too

It's really fun re reading the comments, but Series 27 is not that bad. The Kona Crush is one of the best Classic's from the entire series, we hadn't had a new Slaughter since Series 2 so that was needed so it makes sense now. Big Show, still meh on that getting in two waves with just the singlet strap added but is what it is. Steve Blackman was an awesome add and I'm betting a lot of Mattel collectors would still love him in that line. Warlord and Barbarian are both great.
It's honestly not a bad wave considering it was dead in the water by that point.

Mattel went out and personally signed them. Maybe Steamboat would have signed once his divorce was sorted out. But if I recall Savage wanted Hogan money and Jeremy wasn’t going to offer that.

Hard to say since Mattel and the video game got him in a year or so - he might have lowered his price or even when he passed away the estate would have signed a deal Steamboat one was weird since I always heard his wife owned it then all of a sudden he’s wrestling and has figures And once they got wccw footage and dvd von Eric’s were going to come eventually too

My only gripe with Show was that it was practically a straight re release with just the singlet added, I mean the clothes are horrible but why add that on both versions? Doink should have been a different attire, but it's still a great figure. The sets not horrible, and going back now it has a lot of good points. Kona Crush is one of the best figures in the entire Series.
