You may remember a few months ago, TNA was teasing the debut of a controversial new character from Mexico named Andromeda. Openly gay wrestler Cassandro was set to debut in TNA with the gimmick but we never heard anything else about it.
Cassandro has told people that he felt two people in TNA who would have had some control over his character were rude and homophobic and said he has no interest in working for TNA as a result. On the other hand, a TNA source says the company didn’t bring Cassandro back because of visa issues or something along those lines.

Cassandro is a solid wrestler from what I've seen of his AAA work. Don't judge a book by its cover.

He was training and Fighting Justin Lee Collins In Justin Lee Collins: The Wrestler, Justin aims to be allowed to compete in a Mexican wrestling (Lucha libre) match. He trains for 10 days in Mexico with a Mexican transvestite Luchador who fights under the name Cassandro, as an exotico. Justin adopts a rudo Luchador persona, El Glorioso, or The Glorious One, with his own wrestling mask. His persona is given the blessing of El Hijo del Santo .Returning to London, Justin fights Cassandro in a Lucha libre event in The Roundhouse, ultimately losing and being de-masked.

The last thing TNA needs is a queer oompa loompa... I'm glad this didn't go through.

Gay characters work about as well as foreign bad guys in pro wrestling. Foreign bad guys work extremely well in wrestling... near enough any foreign guy who is heel and plays up his nationality gets instant heat (or is that what you meant)

Gay characters work about as well as foreign bad guys in pro wrestling. He was bisexual/eccentric. He still had this: Not full gay.

I saw him in a show with comedian, Justin-Lee Collins a few weeks back. Also seen a little of his AAA work, he's quite good.
