So today was the Matt Hamill signing at my local mall and man was it worth the wait. He is a stand up guy who would give you the shirt off his back. Let me start by saying I was 3rd in line and about 60 people were there an hour before the signing started. Matt came in about a half hour before the event started and looked at the line and was floored by the size of the line and had a huge smile on his face. He saw my Tapout shirt and pointed over to me and waved and gave me a thumbs up which was cool. Once I got up to meet Matt he shook my hand and thanked me for coming, I told him I was a big fan and that it was great to meet him. We posed for a picture and then he signed a few photos for me, my brother and my buddy NYdream from here on the boards. after he signed I figured they would push me on through the line but he actually wanted to talk to his fans which was great. He said he has been training really hard and looking to make a huge impact very soon. I asked him who he most wanted to fight in the UFC and he laughed and signed to his interpretor, "I would love to fight Dan Henderson but I wouldn't mind a rematch with Bisbing." I found that pretty funny. I also asked him if the UFC was having a figure made of him in the new Jakks line and he made a sad face and said no but he will be a special downloadable fighter in UFC 2010 the video game next year for sure which was great to hear. He then thanked me again and gave me a high five and continued on down the line. Around when the signing was done I figured I would swing by to see if there was still a line and I found Matt and a few friends that he went to college with packing up to leave. I didn't want to bother him so I just waved as I walked by and he pointed for me to come over so I was like .....who me? lol. He shook my hand and said "hey would you like a shirt?" So of course I said hell yeah and put it on right there (it was a team hammer shirt). He laughed and said, "Hold on one sec..." So he reached across the table and picked up his hat he wore to the signing and signed it for me and smiled and says "There you go champ!" and patted me on the back and went back to cleaning up. I thanked him and his interpretor again and I just wanted to mark out right there but I waited until I got around the corner out of sight. All I can say is Matt really is a class act and that was one of the best signings I have ever been to. Here are a few pics from the signing:       |

I was all for the glove but I would have had to order a set and it wouldn't have made it in time for the signing and no place locally sells MMA gloves that I found. Dicks sporting goods had some crap sparring gloves that were huge. So I went with plan B. |

Sounds super nice as I expected Matt to be, he always seemed like a good guy and he's a great fighter. Thanks for sharing your story and congrats on meeting Matt.

Man thats awesome! he is a really nice guy..i hope he gets a rematch agaisnt bisping i would like to see him knock him out!

yea that was announced way back... UFC released in 2010... I dont see why they dont just add him into the normal roster and Im sure Jakks will contact him for a figure once the line continues...

I am a manager at Gamestop and just to pass the word on, UFC will now be a yearly game for the PS3 and 360 since it was the #1 selling game last quarter AND the UFC title will be moving to the Wii as well as the PSP and DS. So far, one downloadable character for UFC 2010 will be Matt Hamill as he confirmed at the signing. |
