It’s been more than two years, but the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) is finally bringing world-class mixed martial arts back to California, and when the lights go down for the main event of UFC 104 on Saturday, October 24th, fans will witness a battle between two of the most dynamic fighters ever to set foot in the world-famous Octagon™, as Brazil’s Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida defends his UFC light heavyweight title for the first time against his countryman and fellow superstar Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Also waging war at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on the UFC 104: Machida vs Shogun card, which is presented by TapouT, will be a clash between two of the heavyweight division’s top rising stars, unbeaten Cain Velasquez and UFC newcomer “Big” Ben Rothwell.
Sounds like a great main event to me. Hoping to see Shogun win the title even though Machida is a machine and it will be very hard to take that belt from him.

I'm so pumped for this card... Lyoto Machida vs Shogun Rua, Joe Stevenson vs Spencer Fisher, Yushin Okami vs Chael Sonnen, Sean Sherk vs Gleison Tibau, Antoni Hardonk vs Patrick Barry, hell even Ryan Bader vs Eric Schafer. It's one of the best cards in a while.

Sherk vs. Tibau is going to be a good one.
Joe Stevenson vs. Spencer will most likely be a 100% standup battle. I hope Joe changes it up a bit and isn't treating this as a straight boxing match as he has been.
Shogun vs. Machida is going to be good. I think Machida will win..hopefully Shogun puts on one hell of a fight..

I honestly can't believe that Machida is a -550 favorite in this fight... Wow... That doesn't surprise me at all. I see him beating Rua with ease.

I honestly dont see Rua winning this but I also dont think Machida will run through him. I honestly think Rua if he shows up in shape can do good in this fight.

Middleweights Chael Sonnen and Yushin Okami will square off at UFC 104 on Oct. 24 in Los Angeles. The announcement was made Friday via UFC Japan, the promotion's Japanese language website. Sonnen (21-10-1) last fought on short notice at UFC 98 against Dan Miller when Team Quest teammate Ed Herman pulled out of the fight. Sonnen used his superior wrestling skills to carry a decision, though he later apologized for the bout's lack of action. The win was his first since migrating from the WEC's shuttered middleweight division, where he won the lighter weight promotion’s unofficial middleweight title by defeating Paulo Filho last November. Sonnen is 2-3 in UFC competition. Okami (23-4) has been inactive since last December, when he battled ground wiz Dean Lister to a tedious decision victory. Long considered the unofficial heir to a middleweight title shot – Okami holds a disqualification victory over Silva in January 2006 – the Japanese fighter has faced criticism over his ground and pound style, prompting charges he has been passed over for a title shot. However, he has been defeated just once in the Octagon, a decision loss to Rich Franklin in June 2007. Great fight & will be interesting to see Okami back. How do people see the Middleweight division's future Ideally I'd like to see -Hendo vs. Anderson 2 -Winner of Maia/Marquardt vs. Winner of Okami/ Sonnen with winner becoming next no.1 contender -Wandy making official MW debut against either Leben or Bisping hopefully setting up a title shot sometime in 2010. Plus obviously there is the strong rumour that Belfort could be coming in after his last Affliction fight which would be a great addition, could have a rematch with Wandy before the winner moves on to a title shot. A lot of people slate the middleweight division but I think it's looking great. Okami vs. Sonnen is a stupid fight. Seriously, so many people have Okami at #2 in the world and I don't understand why. I'm not taking away from his talent, but who has he beaten? He's fought one real 'name' in the UFC and he lost a unanimous decision. The only other person the average fan would even recognize on his resume' (n the UFC) is Swick, and that fight was, excuse me, but, it was boring. Sonnen is a stupid fight for Okami for a number of reasons. If Sonnen happens to win (he won't), then people will say that Okami should have gotten his title shot before this fight. If Sonnen loses (he will), then congratulations Mr. Okami, you beat the man that another vying contender in your division also smashed (Maia.) This fight is really stupid, and to me is just giving Okami a fight to keep him busy while much more exciting fighters get the opportunity to fight the championship. I still feel the same about Okami/Sonnen. Stupid ing fight.

anything can happen I suppose...but I just don't see Machida losing anytime soon..
I hope to god Shogun does win though..as it sets up a lot of potential matches...
Anderson can finally stay at LHW and go for the title..
..or Rampage can finally try and avenge his loss against Shogun. The match would be huge. I would put my money on Rampage.

Yeah there are so many potential matches at 205. I think Anderson stands a good chance against most guys in 205. It will take a great wrestler or ground guy to beat him and 205 don't really have that. Maybe Rampage if he don't get KOed on the feet.
