i tried to make a yellow warior ic belt once and had no luck. But if you have an extra belt around to try it it can't hurt i guesse.

Just get some sort of simulated leather and glue the plates to that. I think the new straps make the belts look much better anyway.

can't you just take the plates off...spray paint the belt strap and then put the plates back on?

Nothing I have tried works. The paint will crack and chip when you try to bend it. The only way I could see it working is if you put it around someone's waist to paint it and then leave it on that person forever because as soon as you straighten and bend it again, it will peel. I have tried spray paint, acrylic paint, and enamel paint. They all worked equally badly

try a type of paint called "plasti-kote" its for plastics and you can get bright and wired colours so orange wont be a problem.
you can find it at hardwear stores (i get mine from B&Q) search google they got a site too.
hope it helps.

I saw Plasti-kote mentioned above, and yeah, that could work. I don't have too much experience with that type of paint. I've mentioned on here before that I use Vinyl Color Paint, and I swear to ya, it works. It comes in a spray form (but can be brushed on as well by spraying the paint into the cap and just dipping in with the brush) and you can get it at most Walmarts and auto parts stores. However, they only sell basic colors. I've found a larger selection of colors at www.autobarn.comI haven't found orange per say, but I have mixed red and yellow to make it, which obviously isn't any great feat. It can be kind of expensive, especially if you're only wanting to paint the one belt. Just thought I'd throw that out there and share . . .
