Simple question.
Do you think it would work? In the last few months it seems like their channeling WCW, why not try a more UFC approach.
I think this is the next step to bring pro wrestling into its next boom period. I know Paul Heyman has said this before and im really convinced. Not just because i drink the koolaid but because of how popular UFC is. I honestly believe wrestling needs more credabilty or only children will be watching. An MMA approach would instantly set them apart from WWE and maybe even grab some of UFC's fanbase who aren't complete pro wrestling haters.
Think about it and what it could be.
Weight classes Rounds Titles with prestige No more lame wrestling 101 storylines. Focus on the moves instead of storytelling
What do you guys think? Personally i think this would be huge. With Angle and Lashley they already would have an intriguing heavyweight division. Would pro wrestling work if it was presented a MMA like sport?

They have wrestlers not MMA fighters. Matches are predetermined and MMA bouts are not. No offense but this is a horrible idea.

Sounds like it would just be another MMA promotion instead of wrestling. Either way their product can't get much worse.

If I wanted to watch a MMA like product I'll watch UFC ,and they did the Angle/Joe match which was like an MMA match and it was terrible.I do like the Title prestige and no lame storylines idea though.

Im not even saying that the in ring action should MMA like or even have rounds for that matter.
But the idea of having rankings and divisions sounds good to me. Im not saying anything about actually doing mixed martial arts or anything of the sort.
Im talking about presentation, treating pro wrestling like a real sanctioned sport instead of vinces hollywood approach. Small things like interviewing the guys after matches, talking more about the actual moves and just overall adding more to detail to the actual wrestling.
Think of UFC without the mixed martial arts, and predetermined.

I thought the post was about not changing the product to an MMA group, rather portraying the prowrestling as a serious sport.
Similar to ROH when it first started off I suppose.
However without the characters & storylines a lot of people really don't care, its everything coming together in a strong feud that generates the interest in a prowrestling match. To try & make out thyat prowrestling is legit would make TNA a laughing stock surely

However without the characters & storylines a lot of people really don't care, its everything coming together in a strong feud that generates the interest in a prowrestling match. To try & make out thyat prowrestling is legit would make TNA a laughing stock surely I think your the only person who understood my original post. That said you make a good point, but think about it- UFC has storylines in a way. UFC gives us amazing buildup, it just focuses on real life stories. They tell great stories, Lesnar/Mir is the best example. So instead of Joe and Angle fighting over Being in the MEM or whatever, Joe simply wants to even the score with angle, who is 3-2 on ppv against joe. Or Angle telling AJ styles he can make him tap in the first round and being really arrogant about his gold medal and more formal wrestling training. So in closing, im not saying remove storylines- im saying no more wrestling 101 type crap. Realistic stuff than would put real athletes in a heated situation. Storylines are the bread and butter of wrestling, but it would be nice to see a company with more intense and believable angles. BTW Lockdown 08 was awesome imo, loved the way they did Joe/Angle! So basically i would like to see more of that.

That Angle/Joe match was horrible. There is no way an idea like this would work.
