Personally, and I've watched most of his fights on youtube or on TV and personally I do think that this guy has gotten lucky. I'm not saying that he's not a skilled striker ala Tank Abbot but seriously, there is so much to his game that is lacking. Hell I would say that Kimbo against this guy in stand up would probably just be about dead even.
But overall look at his last few fights. He's lost to two guys where there's no shame in that at all, but the guys he has wins over were basically rookies as was he. So I got to say that this Roy Nelson kinda over estimates his ability to fight.

I'm really surprised by the hype behind him on this forum...I had a chance to catch up on a lot of his fights and I think this guy is pretty much every HW the UFC had abou 6-7 years ago. Just very one-dimensional lacking skills but has very solid hands.
Hell, I don't even think his chin looks all that solid..I will probably get some backlash from that but I seriously don't.
So for everyone who thinks he will run away with this TUF title without one mark on him I beg to differ. I think Kimbo has just as much chance as this guy at winning it. Hell even Wes Sims has as much chance as Roy Nelson.

I dint think he is all that or anything I just think compared to the cast on TUF he is in the top 3 atleast. I dont really mind if Kimbo were to win the season I love Kimbo but IMO Roy has the edge.... Experiene wise atleast...

I just made the topic because I loved how he tried to get himself over on the video preview and how he thought he was the big announcement. How sad that he doesn't realize his own limitations.

I think Roy has potential, but like Sandy said, this season is fair game. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Darill Schoonover and Justin Wren make it.

He's probably the best on TUF. I mean that fight he had with Monson was BS in my opinion. It was a bad decision. Other than that i don't see him ever grabbing the UFC belt though.

He is a pretty good fighter overall and has a good future ...it's okay if you don't know who he is, really. Nelson is 33, he doesn't have much of a future at all. To be completely honest, Dana doesn't want Roy Nelson to win this season, he's just using him because of his "resume." When (if) someone defeats him on TUF, Dana can say that person beat a proven commodity. Nelson is a decent fighter. His loss to Ben Rothwell is still bullshit. Dana went after him after the IFL folded and basically told him if he could get (and keep) his weight down, he'd give him a contract. Nelson got the weight down, but couldn't keep it off. I have a strong feeling that will be a problem throughout TUF also. This is a guy that has talent. Not elite HW talent, probably not even top tier HW talent, but a guy that could be on preliminary PPV cards, or FNL cards, fighting new comers and up and coming talent. A guy that could be a test for HW to see if they belong in the UFC (see: Antoni Hardonk, Eddie Sanchez, Ben Rothwell, Justin McCully, etc) I just see his weight being the issue that keeps him from bigger paydays.

Nelson is the best figher this season which is a very bad thing for season 10. Big Country does have skill but to me he is just an out of shape LHW. I have seen most of his fights and his last two losses show he may be a top 20 HW but that his his peak. Arlovski's knock out was due to a bad stand-up but if you are a great fighter you can either get the fight back to the ground. Arlovski lit him up with some bad punches which makes Nelson's jaw a bit suspect. The fight with Monson is the one to worry about. Monson stays a top 15 HW due to the sheer number of times he fights and his fighting style is a bit....lacking. Nelson was controlled and looked to be at the same level as Mosnon, meaning he isn't as good as he thinks he is and is a long way from Lesnar, Mir, Big Nog, Carwin and so on.

Did you watch the fight with Monson at all. He got screwed big time. I don't see how anyone says he lost that. You're right though he's no where near the top but still should be the favorite.

I'd rather see Kimbo or Wes Sims bring it home. God help me, but I enjoy watching the train wreck that is Wes Sims..

Which has already been said. Roy Nelson was told if he could get his weight down, and keep it down, he would get a UFC contract after the IFL folded. Sadly, Nelson, right NOW is the favorite to win TUF. Please, watch the fight before you comment. Roy Nelson won that fight. Monson spent much of the first 2 rounds on his back. The only thing Monson really landed was knees in the clinch, and a few exchanges in the last round. Nelson's chin isn't "suspect" at all. He's been knocked out once in his career, buy a VERY gifted striker. Give me a break. Don't speak about something you obviously have no idea about.

I think he's a fat piece of trash. If he isn't even dedicated enough to keep his weight down. What makes people think he will be dedicated enough to train hard and develop as a fighter. He's really lucky he wasn't on Rampages team. Because if he was he would of quit after day 1, with how much Rampage would of ed with him.

If Roy Nelson wins this season of the Ultimate fighter I will never watch another season...
..honestly.
unless the guy dedicates himself, loses about 20 pounds, and loses that cocky f***ing attitude I really could careless about him fighting in the UFC.
Everyone talks sh** on Kimbo but it wasn't Kimbo's idea for Dana to give him a special entrance completely separate of the other competitors..Dana did it because he knew Kimbo would be a big ratings grabber. (I also think Dana wants to see someone on this season of TUF completely SMASH on Kimbo just so he could say "I told you so") But Roy Nelsons cocky ass actually thought he would be "the big announcement of the show"...
So far Kimbo has shown me is a teamplayer and seems to be completely humble so far...
which is a lot more than I can say for Nelson...
