thats freaking incredible. Not a H.P. fan but I'm very impressed and the likeness is amazing. one thing I'd change tho is I'd find a way to add age to the face.

Yeah that's one of the things i just can't figure out how to do. Do I sculpt some wrinkles or paint them on? How would I be able to paint them on?

Rozz would probably be the one to go to about this..
but I would say try to sculpt subtle wrinkles around the face..not to many though..maybe just sculpt the bags under his eyes? and then paint the wrinkles in his forehead in? I don't know...it looks really good so far though. The hair and beard has great detail and texture to it...I'm very impressed..

thank you. I was going to try and dry brush the wrinkles but i don't know if the wrinkles are deep enough to dry brush. I used Ric Flair face for the figure.

This is really impressive...I have no idea who it is but it looks great. First, did you put a support wire in for the beard? This will help support the weight and slow cracking (which will happen). Now...this might be going off into a different direction but, to slow cracking you need to let it cool until it reaches room temperature. This would mean to either LEAVE it in the oven until it's completely cooled off, or leave it in the water until the water is back to room temp. If you're using a hair dryer, heat gun, or embossing iron - it's useless because the Super Sculpey will never cure on the inside when it's that thick. Anything of an 1/8" will not completely cure with that method. The oils will leach out and destroy your sculpture over time. Back to the boiling/oven method. The reason that the Sculpey cracks is because of the "shock" (kinda like an ice cream headache). This comes from introducing it to a different temperature too soon. The tiny cracks will start from the inside and work their way out. You might not see them now but...it will happen. I don't know if you've ever had a stress fracture but, it's the same thing - only stress fractures hurt like a mother. Well, a fracture would never reach your skin but you get the idea. With wrinkles, you need to reduce and remove first. I usually dremel the heads down but an exacto will also work. I really don't have that reference on this computer but, you can kinda see the process here. Now it kinda looks like the Zombie of Andrew Jackson but it was one of the freebird heads. This is where you would begin the sculpting. The basic features are removed but the basic forms are still there and the "canon of beauty" is still present making feature placement much easier. I alway recommend that people try to sculpt fine wrinkles with a needle and plastic wrap. It lets you go a little deeper and it also prevents finger prints. Damn, I need to STFU but, vegetable oil is the BEST way to smooth sculpey. Just dip your brush into it and smooth away. Make sure you wash it with dish soap before you paint it to take away any leftover oil.

I'm a huge fan too. I always wanted a good Dumbledore figure but the companies that make harry potter figure never really made one except for the new year 2 dumbledore and the UK popco Dumbledores. I was thinking about making a few more the these and selling them. I was also going to make some other characters too.

OK here's an example of the cracking. You can see where a wire was inserted. It's over 1 lb of Super Sculpey with a foil armature. It looks like crap but it was made 4 years ago at like 2 AM on Easter morning. I was in a hurry. I have a few smart-ass nephews in my life. For reasons that I won't go into, I attached this to the front of the Easter ham along with some furry paws , Easter eggs and candy. Didn't phase the kids at all, landed me in the dog house, and earned me a one way ticket to Hell....But, it was worth it at the time.

Just a quick question, are you going for the Richard Harris or the Michael Gambon look? Because the reference pictures you used are obviously off Gambon, but the loose beard, 'happier' face and middle parting gives it a Harris look... not criticising it, it is great.
Also, for Gambon, the nose could be a little bigger.

It's more of a Richard Harris Dumbledore Face. I did however make him three different hats one of which Michael Gambons Dumbledore where's all the time. I'm also making two different robes for him. The Half blood Prince Dumbledore's robe and the Chamber of Secrets Dumbledore purple and black robe.

That is very well done. You got the beard and hair detail down great, face looks like him but like others said, add the aging. Can't wait to see it finished.
Rozz, that is a funny bunny, haha.

The beard and hair sculpt is absolutely amazing, very lifelike. I do agree with the comment that said the face itself needs more wrinkles, it just doesn't look old enough. If that is your quick "half-assed" attempt at a robe, then I can't wait to see your excellent work when you take your time. That robe already looks great.

Wow!! I think it looks great so far.
That's really cool.
And coming from a HP fan it's cool to see some customs...especially of Dumbledore.

That is fantastic work! Oddly enough, it looks like it would also be perfect for a Jimmy "Boogie Woogie Man" Valiant custom as well.
Nontheless, that is one fine piece of work you have there.
