Hopefully At The Drive-In will get back together. There will be good music on the radio ,but people will hate it just because it is on the radio(much like now a days).Radiohead ,Metallica ,Jimmy Eat World ,Paramore ,Coheed and Cambria ,and Green Day will hopefully continue to release amazing albums. I don't know what you're talking about, but they ceased to do that a long time ago. Oh how I long for the days Green Day were a punk band. -CMD

I hope it goes back to it's classic rock roots, because I can't find anything recent that I like. Too bad it won't happen

To sum your question up in one word?
Garbage..
MX5 makes a good point about great music still being out there.. Rap included.. You do just have to look for it..
Rap, rock, music in general reached its peak aloooong time ago.. It's just a downfall until the world explodes tbh..
Ehh.. I'm a Common fan myself tho..

I think this decade has been the best. If you look in the right places, there are more amazing bands than ever.

It's probably going to just keep getting worse.

Honestly, there IS still good music around. You just have to look for it, everyone saying music is dead... Yeah that's true in the mainstream. I mean when you have a song on the radio that repeatedly says "You're a Jerk" then there's something wrong with the world. I agree with this totally,I'm sick of people saying music is dead, rock is dead, hip hop is dead etc... It's not that hard to find music you like with the internet being around and all.Theres way more music outside of mainstream than some people seem to think.

I think next decade will see a revival in the Shoegazer sound (something already present in the Silversun Pickups).

Avenged Sevenfold will take over as the greatest band, Metallica will retire (even though I love them), and GNR will return to their original lineup....I can dream.

If this ever happened, I would stop listening to music as there could not possibly be a worse scenario. Anywho, I HOPE the next decade gets better. I mean it's coming to an end on a higher note in terms of my musical taste with 2009 seeing new releases from Dream Theater, Muse, Megadeth, etc. And with Muse lending songs to the last Twilight movie and possibly lending another song to the new movie I am thinking that they are one band who is going to see moderately more commercial success here in North America which they definitely deserve. I can see music mostly staying the same in terms of what I listen to. I fully expect a new album from Rush in 2010 which would be an excellent start to the next decade. Honestly though I don't pay attention to the current state of music. All I know is the bands I like keep making good music and that's what matters to me.

I think Kings of Leon are going to get to an even higher status, Radiohead still leading the way with critical sucess and the mainstream as a whole sucking except a few gems, sadly GaGa is going to be around and music as a whole to get a whole lot more gimmicky like late 90s gimmicky.

More crap music. Music is dead. The new music that comes out, isn't anything good, they just copy off of the classic legendary music artist. Conversely, more people pining for the crap the world of music produced in the 60s and 70s. At least we got rid of Nine Inch Nails this year. There's one positive.

Tell me. How is it possibly a good thing that Nine Inch Nails don't play anymore?
I think most people have said it already. Crap. Modern music these days sound like shit. At least during the 90's even the mainstream stuff sounded good. That ain't the case nowadays.

At least during the 90's even the mainstream stuff sounded good. That ain't the case nowadays. Because I don't think they make interesting music? Just not a big fan of the industrial sound. Music is all subject to personal tastes but to say all modern music sounds like crapis so incredibly short sighted it isn't even funny. You can probably even find some enjoyable songs listening to a top 40 station if you crack open your musical tastes ever so slightly beyond that of the 60's... It's good to appreciate that era of music but it's a completely different beast to entirely rely on the whole "That is the only music out there"

I still don't see why it has to be a good thing which makes you happy, it's hardly as if their music was paining you and constantly being played on MTV/radio having you being subjected to it. You may not like them but there are millions of people who do and care much for it.
And I agree with you there, it is rather narrow to just focus on one sound from one decade. Not my deal. But if that's the taste some people have, so be it.

I dont get people saying theres no good new music around, here in britain it seems to be coming out thick and fast, sure theres always people who will complain about it, but there is still some amazing stuff, anyone who thinks there isnt, is just not looking hard enough, turning on the radio thinking its rubbish and switching to classic rock stations...

fingers crossed...Enter Shikari, Bring me the Horizon, Architects, Suicide Silence, A Day to Remember and Four Year Strong all get massive... They are on their way man. With Homesick came so many new DTR fans. Hell Ive exposed everyone I work with to them and they love them. Eminem will release another album and people will claim it is the greatest album ever. And with it will come more white trash thinking they are gangsters. (Not saying all this is Eminem fans, just saying most of them are fans of him) ACDC, Metallica, and alot of others will be out of the picture. Indy rock will continue to get bigger. The GaGa fad will end Kayne will do more to piss people off but people will still listen to his music. Hopefully the Avenged Sevenfold fad will end Coheed will finally create a Masterpiece Deathcab and Motion City Soundtrack will still be underrated. Lil Wayne will run out of song ideas and fry his brain from drugs And hopefully Senses Fail will get some damn recognition
