I agree with the topic starter. The Departed is by far my favorite film of the 00's.

Amazing how good a movie can be thats related to a guy talking on the phone for over an hour. Alfred Hitchcock wanted to create a movie involving a man stuck in a phone booth but couldn't come up with a reason to have him trapped in there. Flashforward a few decades, and boom... a sniper is used as the plot device. It's funny how films work as the times change.

That so amazingly hard for me to answer.. My number 1 goes to "The Departed".. Just for the hell of it.. Movies right behind it for me are... The Dark Knight Batman Begins Gangs of New York Pineapple Express Iron Man.. (I'm sorry.. I was so surprised at how good it was.. It became a great for me.) X-Men X-2 Wolverine (Yes.. As many flaws that are in that movie.. you.. I'm a huge X mark.. Not big enough to give X3 a pass though.) Zack and Miri was funny as f*ck too.. Alpha Dog blew me away in the end as well.. idk man I like to have categories.. I can't just call out ONE movie.. But if I had too (which I did) It would be The Departed.. Nothing can top that flick right now. Oh yeah.. Not a great movie.. But "Burn After Reading" gets an honorable mention for keeping people interested the entire hour and some odd minutes only to find out there was no purpose..

Donnie Darko
I can't think of a movie I have thought about, discussed, or recommended more in the past decade. Is it the best? No, but it's rare a movie can grip me like that.

Just finished watching this for the first time and I was impressed. I have to go with Casino Royale. Not a Bond movie fan but this blew me away and was amazing.

As soon as I saw the title of the thread 'The Departed' popped into my head.
So ya, I'm saying The Departed.

Also, I must add 'Catch me if you Can' in there on that list- by far one of my favorite movies of all time that just happened to come out within the last decade.
