It just hit me the other day while I was at TRU. I passed on a Hornswoggle and Goldust. After getting my hands on Mattel protos I'm really excited about the new line and just dont see the point in wasting money on halfassed jakks products as of late. I mean dont get me wrong Hornswoggle and Goldust came out perfect! but for evey good figure jakks does they make 10 crap ones. I wont be getting rid of my jakks collection just "upgrading". I figured I'd just switch out jakks figures as I get Mattel ones. anyone feel the same?

I'm gunna stop buying figures myself, not all out stop but just pick certain people, most prob Undertakers & start selling my collection overtime.
Its a shame but i don't want to start again, i'v been through the BCA to TTL to R3 to RA, i skipped DA as they sucked & RA carried on.

I do not think I will start over, my collection is very small anyway. It is reduced to a very little number of the guys i like a lot.
I would definitely buy some of the new Mattel stuff. Maybe buy it to substitute the existing jakks figures. Mattel better release classic superstars, I do not have much attachment to current superstars.
Do not get me wrong, there are some awesome "new" guys in WWE. but i would like to see some "oldies". Proper scale Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior, Andre the Giant, Hulk, Goldberg, the Rock, Lex Luger, Pillman, Anvil, Bret, Bulldog, LOD, Benoit, Steiners and others.
I hope Mattel will respect that if they believe that their product should be for collectors. Mattel should go where Jakks did not go, finally release Owen Hart, Crow Sting, Macho Man and others. they should be better than Jakks and that is what it would take ratther than reprinting stupid PayPer views with Cena,HHH, Kane and Batista.

i stoped collecting jakks after they stoped the BCA (which i loved),i hated RA and DA. my main thing has always been collecting wcw/tna toybiz figures and have comlepted both collections, but iam happy to be collecting wwe again in the new year. the main reason being that they are in scale with the toybiz figures.

Yeah, but I think Jakks will look OK next to Mattel. Also people Mattel won't be making are important to get.

I have been a huge wrestling fan on and off for my entire life. I arrived to the whole wrestling fig scene a little late - when my wife and I got back into WWE about a year and a half ago. That's when I started picking up a DA figure here and there depending on who was in the wave. I decided to try and collect the whole roster in DA style...
That was my plan at first. After the fourth or so wave, I got fed up with Jakks figures when I realized they were basically just putting new heads on the same few body types over and over. The scale was annoying enough, but when Orton, Punk, and Kofi all have the same basic torso, tights, and so forth I just lost all desire to get any new ones.
After seeing Mattel's protos, I'm psyched! THIS is how wrestling figures SHOULD look. The attention to accuracy in both the scale and the details on something as simple as the wrestler's boots just blows me away. Looking at Jakks figs on the shelf now - to me, it's a shameful embarrassment. To call it "half-assed" is a compliment - more like "1/20th-assed". Even after 20 or so figures, I don't mind starting over a bit (though I could see how someone with hundreds might). As far as WWE figs go, 2010 can't come soon enough! (Good thing Mattel said they'll be releasing a ton of news next month)

I also passed on Goldust for the same reason. I Still plan on getting Christian & Swagger, though. But after seeing the protos (that you showed me ;D ) I' M SO excited about what Mattel is coming out with, that I just cut back on Jakks drastically. I love the fact that Mattel is having individual molds for each wrestler. Something Jakks sure hasn't done to often. Hey Jakks heads up, my Evan Bourne SHOULD NOT be taller than my Undertaker!

Ill Keep Collecting Jakks 'decent' figures till the end and move on WWE/Mattel and UFC/TNA/Jakks Figures.
But after seeing Mattel Protos, I can't wait, its good for a change and IMO is a change for the better.

I As far as WWE figs go, 2010 can't come soon enough! (Good thing Mattel said they'll be releasing a ton of news next month) Whoa! When and where did they say that?? It was a part of the September Q&A's on various sites. Two examples: tnts.dirtmound.com/article.php?story=20090915180751945"10) What can Mattel tell us about the upcoming WWE figures? Scale (please no HBK’s the same size as Undertaker!)? Articulation? Accessories? Price? A lot of collector love went into these figures. We’ll have all the info in October! " Also: www.actionfigurepics.com/2009/09/afps-ask-matty-round-up-for-9159"10. Lots of people are excited about the launch of WWE products from Mattel. Are these products being covered by the Ask Matty team, and will they be available on Mattycollector.com? When should we expect to see some news and pics about the line? All Mattel products are covered in these Q & As so WWE questions are welcome as well. Our WWE line will be available on retail shelves onJanuary 1, 2010. We’ll have all the ring side action and scoop on WWE to announce in October!"

I'm quitting after Mattel. I hated R-3 and this is pretty close Id hate to say this, but Jakks, aside from their last few lines of the year was pretty decent.

I didn't think I was going to buy again after Jakks, but now I have to get mattel's figs. I'm impressed with the way they came out. I mostly collected classic and have almost the whole collection complete both MOC and loose. I don't know if I should complete since I'm close but when I see the difference in quality I feel like I would be wasting my money on Jakks. It's like why buy a wii when you can get a ps3 or 360.

I don't think I will buy any jakks figs besides the new Steph and Natalya pack. After that I won't give Jakks any more $.

I've decided that I will continue collecting as usual. If you check out certain proto pictures that a certain proto guy on this site has(not sure if your still not allowed to show them)... You'll see the figures are not much smaller than Jakks. However, I understand a Jakks Rey won't look right next to a Mattel Batista...So, I will be conscious of this.
Basically, my plan is to have Mattel figures slowly phase out Jakks figures in my fed, but, for a long time, I will plan to use both side by side.
But, for now, I do plan on cutting back on Jakks purchases... They do seem like a waste of money now..haha. I will get Tyson Kidd, ECW5 Christian, and, Jack Swagger. Perhaps the Matt Hardy in tights. And, maby one or two more. And, the Austin exclusive to keep MOC... I'm basically done with them though.
