According to the Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter, Scott Steiner has been telling friends for a couple of months now that he doesn’t expect to stick around TNA much longer. Steiner is close friends with Jeff Jarrett, and people within the company assume he won’t stick around long if he’s under the impression there‘s no chance of Jeff coming back. Those close to the situation say that Steiner, now 47, has been financially prepared to retire for several years. Those close to him say that Steiner still has the desire to perform despite the everyday pain he endures from years of injuries.
In January of this year, a report was published with the following quote from a fellow wrestler: “If Scott has a decent, hard match where he takes five or ten bumps, he is feeling much more pain than the average beat up wrestler and he feels it for up to 24 hours after the match. His back is so bad, watching him go through a 12 step process to sit in a car seat is excruciating.” During the Monday Night Wars era, he developed one of the worst backstage reputations in the business. Since then, TNA sources say Steiner has been a pleasure to work with. Even during his short WWE run prior to joining TNA, sources say he kept to himself and didn’t cause any trouble like he did in WCW.

Will be a shame, but like everything in life, once you know when to quit you're doing the right thing. Perhaps if this happens and with rumours of Sting retiring maybe all the younger guys will start to get pushed.

Steiner leaving would lead to the downfall of TNA.

Shame Steiner is leaving. Been a fan since his WCW days, met him in January, seemed nice.

I forgot that he was even in WWE before his TNA run... Man time flies.
I heard that report a while back, and I remember Steiner or someone commenting about the getting out of the car and bump thing.. They said it was false, so I don't know if I trust this at all

That's sad. I hope he does go home and enjoys his life. He is financially sets and I hope he gets to fix his back or any injury issues.

Wish Nash would retire, he's probably in a situation very much like Steiner to be honest.

Have Steiner team with Don West for ShopTNA, or permanently tag out David Penzer.

Can't Booker T and his obnoxious over-acting leave instead?

Can't Booker T and his obnoxious over-acting leave instead? Agreed. I used to be a huge Booker T fan, but his ridiculous accents and manor over the last year or so have put me off him completely.

Well, I'm gonna miss Scott when he does finally decide to hang 'em up, but he's had an excellent career and has done some of the greatest wrestling promos known to man. I should save the rest for when he actually does retire, I just hope maybe he can get one more world title before he calls it quits, even if it's only for a month.

Hasn't Booker been pushing it since like, 2006? Whenever WWE decided he was an upper-carder, that's when he seemed to start faking it. (HHH feud aside)

Well that is sad to hear that he is in so much pain but I guess he should retire so he can feel better.

Once Scotty and Sting retire my childhood is pretty much over. Flair probably wont come back mainstream. Luger's career is sadly over. Steiner Brothers will be gone, Road Warriors are no more with the death of Hawk.....The classic NWA/WCW really has come to an end and its very sad

Wait, everybody complains about Steiner being one of the reasons TNA sucks, that he can't wrestle and many more things, and now everyone loves him? Damn.. that's WF for ya...

He's not really that much of a contribution to TNA, other than just a big name, there really isn't anything going for him there. As much as I like the guy for his intense-anger fueled/ random promo's he's just another oldie hanging around.

I have really enjoyed Scott in TNA, so it makes me sad to hear this. Of course, I was one of the biggest supporters of his first monster push in WCW and loved all of his performances up until WCW folded.
