Yoshihiro Akiyama, a fourth-generation Japanese-born Korean who made his Zuffa debut at UFC 100, will bring a lethal dose of sexiness to the Octagon in early 2010 in hopes of dulling the blade of Brazilian “Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva.
“Sexyama” made the announcement earlier today during a news conference for the UFC’s “Undisputed” video game release in the far east and comes courtesy of Sherdog.com.
While no date or event is official, the former DREAM and K-1 star hinted at UFC 110 in Las Vegas and UFC 111 in Australia as probable front-runners for the proposed throwdown.
A world class Judoka, Akiyama made his name in K-1 Hero’s, compiling an undefeated record (11-0, 1 NC). After FEG pulled the plug on Hero’s, he fought twice in the newly formed DREAM in 2008 before signing with UFC. He made his Octagon debut a successful one, narrowly edging out Alan Belcher via split decision on July 11.
Will he be sexy enough for one of the sport’s most ruthless aggressors?
On the heels of his recent facial surgery, Wandy could return with a level of sexiness all his own. Even though Silva has lost five of his last six fights, he’s an extremely aggressive and dangerous fighter who is capable of ending things early.
In fact, “The Axe Murderer” has a technical knockout percentage of more than 70 in his 43 professional mixed martial arts bouts — and even when he loses — he always comes to fight.
Expect fireworks in this one.
Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more information on the reported contest as it becomes available.

this is a good fight for Wanderlei to get back on track..I expect him to KO Akiyama... I agree. I don't see it going down like the Jardine fight, but I think eventually Sexyama will end up eating a barrage of hard shots and end up going down, whether by TKO or straight KO.

IMO Akiyama is just too small for the weightclass amongst all the huge weight cutters & Wandy should walk straight through him.

He's a small MW but would be a mid-sized WW. Just depends on how comfortable he'd be with an extra 15 lbs cut and what he thinks about the weight class.

Problem though is generally Jap fighters don't like weight cutting, not sure if seen as dishonourable or what but generally they fight at their walk around weight which puts them at a serious disadvantage.

Title should be changed to "Sexyama's death likely for early 2010"

Sakurai and Aoki cut weight all the time.

Wandy had a hard time cutting down to 195. I bet he isn't going to make weight the first time. He's going to be so drained from that weight cutting. Sexyama will not get koed. If hes having trouble on his feet with wandy, he'll just toss him around like a rag doll and choke him out.

He's losing weight now and walks around at about 195lbs now. He'll make the weight.

He has to go on a strict diet and still cut a lot of weight. Hes not a 21 year old wrestler. I don't see much future for wandy in the MW division. If i was not mistaken he was in favor of a 195lbs division along with Joe Rogan/rich franklin.

I just hope Wandy adapts better to the weight cutting this time around. He looked incredibly flat and exausted when he fought Franklin
