Josh Koscheck and Anthony Johnson have verbally agreed to fight each other at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas, Sherdog.com has learned from a source close to the bout.
Koscheck announced Tuesday on his Twitter account that he would be fighting Nov. 21 in Las Vegas in a co-main event fight.
“I got some big fight news for me,” he wrote. “I am fighting nov 21 in Vegas. Co main event!!! Haha it's on baby!!!!”
Following Brock Lesnar’s withdrawal from his title defense against Shane Carwin, the scheduled UFC 106 co-main event, Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin, became the main event. Reports surfaced later that the UFC was looking to bolster the card with a new co-main, and that now appears to be the case with Koscheck-Johnson.
Koscheck stopped Frank Trigg at UFC 103 in September to rebound from an upset loss to Paulo Thiago in February. Sherdog.com’s No. 5-ranked welterweight, he has 11 UFC wins and four losses. Johnson, 8-2, has won three straight in the Octagon. Most recently he stopped Yoshiyuki Yoshida on Oct. 24. Wooooooowwwwww. Big fight!

Sweetness, I'll pull for Rumble on this one, could be another quick match. Though I think it'll be a great battle.

Rumble via first round Murder KO. Winner should get the title shot after Hardy or Swick.

I'm down for Rumble getting a title shot if he wins this fight...4 in a row is a nice streak going in for a title shot...Kos however just faced GSP not to long ago and I don't really want to see rematches for GSP. I doubt Rumble would get the shot though...they are probably going to give the winner of Thiago Alves/Jon Fitch a rematch with GSP.
I'm going to go with.........Rumble.
I hope to God he wins...just to bring some fresh meat to the top of the food chain at 170. All the big names have faced each other
Kos vs. GSP happened Kos vs. Thiago Alves happened Thiago Alves vs. GSP happened GSP vs. Jon Fitch happened Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves is going to happen.
Swick, Fitch, and Kos are never going to fight each other...so that really eliminates some interesting fights at 170..

Oh man, this should be a tremendous fight. I'll put my money on "Rumble" Johnson all the friggin' way. If he doesn't win this one in the first, then it won't take long in the second. Either way, I think Koscheck is going to be taking a nap inside The Octagon that night.

If Kos believes he can stand with Rumble, thats taking a huge risk. If he FINALLY goes back to his wrestling background then he could definitley pick up a win for sure.
Regardless this probably does not effect the title picture, I'm pretty sure if Swick beats Daley then he'll get a shot at GSP.

Very cool, intriguing fight. I'm pulling for Rumble, he's my favorite of the 2 and this will at least freshen up the title picture. The UFC have taken a slow approach in building up Rumble towards the title picture and this is his first real test of a top contender in the division. I'd like to see the winner of this take on the winner of Fitch/Alves (again why I'm pulling for Rumble since I think Fitch will beat Alves again and Kos and Fitch have said they don't want to fight) in order for the next title shot after Swick/Hardy or possibly Paul Daley as well. The Welterweight Division is starting to look quite interesting after a short period of who can GSP face, even though I think he can/has beat all the people I've mentioned.

I mean KOS faced GSP 2 years ago and is tons better than he was in that fight now... Id love to see KOS win and get a title shot. That would be awesome. But I also think if Rumble won that would be amazing too!

Considering his recent KO loss, disappointing performance against Alves, and unwillingness to fight Fitch or Swick, I'd say Kos needs to do a lot more than beat Rumble to earn a title shot anytime soon. Hell, I don't even think Rumble should get a title shot if he wins. Obviously he's an exciting fighter so that would help his case, but it shouldn't be a for sure thing.

But I also think if Rumble won that would be amazing too! I know..but I just don't see the outcome being any different at all between GSP and Alves, Fitch, or Kos. So I would rather have Rumble win....let everyone think the guy is the second coming of God and get him in there with GSP after GSP dismantles Swick or Hardy. I'm all for new matches. I'm tired of so many rematches and rubber matches happening. Especially so close together. I just really don't see BJ Penn, GSP, or Anderson losing any fight in there division. They are a couple notches above all the competition. LHW and HW are the only titles I can see changing quite a few times in 2010. But I think by the end of 2010 LW, WW, and MW will all have the same champions.

I think Rumble's huge size advantage over all Welters should see him take this. With GSP injured & then returning to take on winner of Hardy/ Swick lots of time to set up next contender afterwards. Would love to see Rumble vs. Semtex & Kos vs. Condit personally

Would love to see Rumble vs. Semtex & Kos vs. Condit personally I personally would love to see Johnson/Daley. With GSP needlessly taking on the winner of Swick/Hardy (c'mon now... really?), we need to set up some contenders afterwards (even though there's enough time). We've got three massive WW fights in three events, 105: Swick vs Hardy, 106: Rumble vs Koscheck and 107: Fitch vs Alves... I'd personally like to see Hardy get the WW shot, Rumble beats Kos and then takes on Fitch after he beats Alves. Rumble/Fitch for GSP after he demolishes Hardy.

No one in the Welterweight Division can take GSP now, so it doesn't even matter who GSP fights next.

This should be a good test to see where Johnson is at this stage of his career. I liek them both and think it will be a good fight.
