Now there seems to be a little hostility and complaiing on the boards surrounding Jakks latest stuff (lack of detail, gimmicks mess ups, etc).
So here's a thread that I hope brings us back to a better mood. What is your favorite collecting moment? It can be you found a 1/500 in store, or receiving a shippment from RSC, or a big trade being done.
Tell us, list several if you'd like.
Mine: I was working on a local project (we're a family-run demolition company) and it was in the middle of a big snow storm in December 2007. I call my local KB Toys and talk with the manager, whom I've became friends with. He tells me CS 16 just got in and he set aside a whole box for me. So after work I drive down in the snow and pick up one of my favorite CS sets (I know the flaws, but hey)!
Add to this my wife was expecting our first child and the holidays were in full swing! Just one of my favorite moments of collecting.
Another Moment: Back when I was collecting Hasbro hardcore, I never could find the Honky Tonk Man and thought it was such an awesome figure. I believe this was in 1995 as the internet was not around. But I happen to walk into a local variety store in VT (near my family's summer place) and not only was HTM there, but so was Jake "The Snake" Roberts, whom I have been searching for a long time!

Good topic!
For me it was when my Dad surprised me with the entire initial set of WCW Galoob figures one morning...this was way before Internet and stuff, so at that point (being 7 years old) I didn't even know that WCW had figures coming out. I was so excited to add the WCW guys to my WWF Hasbros.
I couldn't believe I could do Sting vs. Hogan!

Mine was when I first started watching wrestling in early 2008, I went to KB the day after Punk cashed in the MiTB for the first time. Since I didn't know much about wrestling, and had only liked it for a few months, I saw the ECW?? (one with shirt and ECW title) and grabbed it and begged my mom to buy it because I thought the ECW title was the WHC title and I thought that the figure was so quickly updated.
And another time was when I went to KB, I found the Hell in a Cell playset (not the RSR) and thought that the one I had found was the RSR and I was excited to find for only $40

Getting all excited at finding a CS 2 Dude Love in a random Kay Bee in New Hampshire. Despite tearing up the aisle to reach it, the hot cashier did not make me feel embarrassed. Told me she was here if I needed anything. When I checked out, she was cool and friendly. The whole transaction was as pleasant as possible.

Everytime I go on holiday I get a chance to pick up tons of figures, it's my favourite time of the year ;D
Also when I found Kofi in FP I was pretty excited to say the least!
Oh and the first time I found FP (sometime this year) was also good.
Ohhh and when I got 200 Figs on Ebay for £2 ;D

My favourite moment was when I first saw real scan TTL figures.
After those innitial awful sculpts to see figures whose likenesses were bang on made my jaw drop. This was at a time when Jakks actually lead the way in terms of figure development as I think they were one of, if not the first, company to scan their figures.
I believe this moved Jakks into a whole new level in the market and was a golden age of figure collecting for me with exact likenesses combined with fantastic detail, for example the scuplt and glasses on ROR4 Christian.

There's a lot. One for me was on a Christmas morning in the Hasbro days. I had always looked at this little black-and-white toy catalog that had all the rare Hasbros for 'crazy' prices... I always told my mom I wanted the 1-2-3 Kid figure(it was a solid $54, I still remember...) and on Christmas that morning, I unwrapped a gift and saw a white clothing box... I was young and hated clothes for Christmas, so, I was like 'oh clothes...' My mom told me excitedly to open it. I did, and after unwrapping tons of white tissue, I came to the action figure of all action figures, 1-2-3 Kid! Amazing... I pretended to faint and proceeded to not want to open the rest of my presents.. My older brother told me to keep it in the package, but, I'm proud to say that figure is sitting on my shelf with all kinds of paint wear... What a great figure!

Finding CS 2 Dude Love at a TRU in Texas after being heartbroken over RSC selling out of it a few weeks before. I screeched an "OWWW! HAVE MER-SAAAY!" in excitement, then promptly looked all around to make sure no one saw/heard me do it.

ECW 1 had just been released in the US but being in the UK the only way to find out when they've been released is to check the UK figure findings thread. I remember one night reading it and finding out that loads of people had the set in their local TRU's so I rang mine to see if they had them but I was left on hold for ages. Eventually I took a gamble and we drove out to TRU where I found the entire of ECW 1, fresh from the box. Needless to say I grabbed Punk and was so happy to have his first RA fig, red-spot pepsi tattoo and all. Thinking about it now I should have grabbed some others as they were only £6 each.

This is actually a cool idea. I have a few actually. Coming across RA 40 Chris Jericho after months and months of it not being anywhere and finally seeing one was awesome! Getting the RS Nash and HBK tag set for my birthday a few years back, and this year getting the Edge Classic figure with the Rated R spinner title.
I am kind of lucky though in one thing, I am a huge Edge fan and somehow every time I go to the toy section and look at the figures the only ones that always peg the shelves are Edge figures. I was lucky enough to get like 5 Edge's that way, just cause my guess is not too many kids around here like Edge cause he was a 'bad guy.' Worked out for me though at least!
But I will never forget seeing the first BCA figures in Walmart back in 1996, and marking out huge for them because I didn't even know they were coming out, so of course I had to get them.

When i was on Vacation with my Grandparents in Plymouth, we went to a KB (Used to be my favorite store) and a Walmart. At the KB, i found the figure i really wanted, The sandman in ECW 1. Then I go over to Walmart not expecting anything and I find a series 2 Shark Boy! I marked out.

My favorite moment was finding a 1 of 100 Ivory Hornswoggle at work, during my shift. I paid even less for it because of my employee discount. :-)

One of my favorites was when I found CSTT1. I had just worked an overnight shift setting up a seasonal shop (can't remember what season) at Linens N Things and since I was up still I drove up the road for TRU's opening. I had no idea that they were coming out. It was such a pleasant surprise. I picked up one of each set for me then three seconds some guy came in and grabbed every other set there. If the overnight didn't run late, I wouldn't have found LOD. I never saw them in stores again. Saw the Harts and Rockers again, but not LOD. This was one time poor planning at LNT actually helped me out.

Mine would be a year and one day ao when the Koloffs set came out in CSTT. I couldn't find it when TRU stocked it the first time. Then that day re-stocked the only set I needed ( and REALLY wanted). As I was leaving TRU, I got a call on the cell telling me to hurry to the hospital, my youngest son was about to be born. A couple hours later, I was a daddy again.

the 9 times I've found 1/500s at stores. Every time I got that little adrenaline rush of excitement. It made all those trips to TRU & KB worth it.
I remember each time vividly...however the first is the most important
RA27 Lashley- It was right around when I started getting into collecting heavily. May of 2007. Walked into a TRU I had just recently discovered near my work, checking the pegs and sure enough the 2nd to last one on a peg was the 1/500 Lashley. It was like I struck a $500 scratch ticket or something. RA's were $7.99 then too, haha. That was a great day
The other one I really enjoyed was finding the Joey Styles. I think we can all agree that he was pretty much the strangest choice for a 1/500 figure but in Jakks view it was a way to guarantee selling at least 500 of said figure, lol. I said from the beginning he was my most wanted 1/500 at the time. Just before KB started closing down I went to the one in the mall near my work, and was browsing as usual and found nothing of interest. I walked a little down the aisle and looked up (by chance) above the McFarlane figures and there right on the shelves way above the pegs (where they kept the extra storage) was a 1/500 Joey Styles standing upright! It was cool actually wanting something so much and finding it randomly during my lunchbreak.

There's that one moment that will always stick out to me. In August 2007, things were rough for my family. We all still had fun even though money was tight, but we had a rough two months until we had a huge turn-around and everything became great for us again. It was the end of the month and RA 28 was hitting my KB that Thursday. I remember we didn't have much money that week, but I still managed to have a spare $30 for myself. I went to KB that morning and picked up Kenny, Mr. McMahon and The Miz. I went to another KB after that, and low and behold as I walked in... I see a 1 of 500 McMahon on the front of the shelf, right in the middle. It was such a great feeling of how I hit lucky that day.
Fast forward to two weeks later. It's a Thursday night again. In the afternoon, I remember walking (yeah) to TRU since I had nothing better to do. I had really wanted the red/black attired WM Punk figure since I had been regretting passing on it. I also wanted the RA 26 Finlay really badly. I walked into TRU and low and behold... I found that RTWM Punk. The catch... I had no money on me. So I hide it, and then at night went back with money and picked it up. After that, I went to KB again. I walk into KB, look in the front rack and see a lot of RA 28. I look through the rack and oh yeah... I found another 1 of 500 McMahon. I look at the bottom of the shelf... I see RA 26... and guess what? I finally found Finlay again!
Those were the two stand-out moments of my collecting time. See, all in all, buying figures has really brought me a lot of fun.
