Spike TV: Slice Fights Dec. 5 in TUF Finale Posted on 11/23/2009 by Sherdog.com Staff
Kimbo Slice will re-enter the Octagon on Dec. 5 for “The Ultimate Fighter 10” Finale, announced Spike TV on Monday.
“Slice’s opponent will be announced at a later date, pending on what transpires on the special two-hour “The Ultimate Fighter” episode on Wednesday, December 2 (9:00-11:00pm ET/PT),” the cable network said in a press release.
Houston Alexander, who was approved for re-licensure on Nov. 3 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, is expected to face Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson.
Sherdog.com has learned the bout will likely be contested at a catch-weight of 215 pounds.
Alexander, who had to undergo additional review for being a potential participant that is 35 years or older, told the NSAC that he’d be fighting on Dec. 5, but did not identify his opponent.
Alexander earned a first-round technical knockout against Sherman Pendergarst in a heavyweight bout at AMMA 4 last September. Alexander has a 2-3 record in the UFC’s light heavyweight division.
Slice, 34, who appeared on this season’s “The Ultimate Fighter,” is currently training at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Fla., for the bout. Roy Nelson eliminated Slice from the reality show’s first round of competition with a second-round TKO.
Slice’s Dec. 5 bout will air live on Spike TV.

I think Houston is probably the more well-rounded striker. But with Kimbo training with American Top Team who knows..it could go either way but I'm going to say Houston is going to get the win.

Hahaha, why would they do that? They are announcing him so people know he's fighting so they get good ratings. Also, the show hasn't ended, and look at the way they were building Kimbo up to maybe being able to come back, why would they not spoil it?

I would rather Kimbo be on the show than the main-event of the TUF finale...but I doubt that is going to happen.
do you know how many of the "hardcore MMA fans" (I put quotations because the ones who hate Kimbo with a passion always claim to have been fans since the very first UFC) would talk sh** if Kimbo LOST on the show and was not only still able to come back to the UFC but to also be in the main-event of the TUF finale?

I would consider myself a "Hardcore MMA Fan" and I actually like Kimbo. If anyone was brought back, I think it should be Kimbo.

i actually feel like if mitrione cant fight, his replacement should either be junk b/c he was mitrione's opponent OR the last member of team rashad b/c mitrione is one of rashad's fighters and it should be his coches' decision whom should replace meat head.

But the fact is. hey are playing with our heads. Every week on TUF they hype his return to the show and for about a month now all the sites are hyping a bout with Alexander. Nothing has been confirmed so they are throwing us around and not telling us what is actually going to happen. So I guess we will see...

I think they are hyping him fighting again on the show so they continue to get solid ratings...
I think Mitrione is going to end up fighting...but at the end of the 2 hour special Dana White will talk sh** on Roy Nelson and how impressive Kimbo looked in the fight but Roy just layed on top of him....so he will then announce that Kimbo will be fighting on the finale against Houston Alexander...

Alexander: ‘It’s Kevin Ferguson’ Tuesday, November 24, 2009 by Sherdog.com Staff
Houston Alexander did his best to talk around his opponent’s name for his pending bout at “The Ultimate Fighter 10” Finale on Dec. 5 in Las Vegas, but confirmed more than he probably intended to Tuesday during an interview with “The Todd N Tyler Radio Empire” show on KEZO-FM in Omaha, Neb.
“We're going to say his real name, Kevin Ferguson,” said Alexander, referring to the given name of “Kimbo Slice.”
The 35-year-old Alexander added that when he was offered the bout, he didn’t hesitate in accepting it.
Alexander and his manager, Monte Cox, could not be immediately reached for comment following the radio interview.
The bout, believed to be contracted at a catch-weight of 215 pounds, will mark Alexander's first fight in the Octagon since his first-round submission loss to Eric Schafer at UFC Fight Night 15 in September 2008. Alexander, 35, is 2-3 in the UFC’s light heavyweight division, which includes three straight losses to Thiago Silva, James Irvin and Schafer.
The 34-year-old Slice, who appears on “The Ultimate Fighter 10,” is currently training with American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Fla. In his lone fight on the show, Slice was stopped by Roy Nelson with second-round strikes.
Hah.
