Around December 1 he is to announce an increase in troops to Afghanistan. Estimates are around 30-35,000, with Gen. McChrystal (Commander of US Forces in Afghanistan) asking for 40,000.
What are your thoughts?
I think he should just give the General the 40,000 he is asking for.

What are my thoughts? "Go figure." He's said all along that he's sending more troops there, so this is one thing he's not backing off on.

My two cousins' base is sending people. The younger of the two would have to go if not for the older one stepping in to take his place so he wouldnt be so far away from his baby. Hes actually been wanting to go so it works out for him. Crazy shit.

I think, why announce an announcement instead of just making the announcement?

I say he should just meet him in the middle. I hate the Idea of our Troops training them.

I can only see one good thing about us traing them. We have every reason to be there. Al-Qaeda was behind 9/11. We are fighting them. What we need is a stepped up effort to catch bin Laden. We train them so they can help us in our fight.

That was eight years ago man. Yea I know it was horrible but still no need to send 40,000 over there. So we can just kill off ours?

I think its sad though man. We go and our troops die and we kill innocint people because we blow down a dooor and just start shooting. Don't get me worng I wanna find those people just as much as you but we dont need 40,000 troops. I'm sure some of the people we train will try to help Bin Laden.

That's a risk we are going to have to take. We need these people to help us and we need them to be able to stand up by themselves once we are gone.
If the General believes that 40,000 troops will get us a victory, I'm willing to go with it.

TBH dude I don't think we will find him and thats why I say no. We should keep looking until we either find him or we get confirmed reports that he is dead. I don't mean just rumors, but actual certification that he is dead.

Then I guess we keep kill innocent people and our troops. We don't have to kill innocent people, but we also don't know who we are fighting as they don't wear a uniform. Also, our troops knew they would be sacrificing their lives when they enlisted. I don't really know of any wars where we have come out with no deaths.
