In Uganda, there is a bill that was introduced that would criminalize homosexuality and the punishment would be death.
If a person knows of a homosexual but does not report them to the authorities, they will get 3 years in prison.
The President of Uganda seems to be supportive, one of his department secretaries is in favor of this. It seems to have widespread support amongst the politicians.

I believe there are already laws like this in some of the Islamo-theocratic nations, and maybe other countries that are theocratic and/or third world. Interesting that in this country gay people are free to make millions of dollars and become powerful politicians (Barney Frank for example, a top-ranking U.S. Senator), and in other countries they are put to death for being gay. It's pretty pathetic on the other countries' parts, but they are still living in the mindset of hundreds and thousands of years ago. Just be thankful you live in the United States.

Wow, I saw the thread title and at first was surprised to see Slappy had made the post. It made sense once reading it. I find killing someone because they're gay is really uncalled for. Who gives a if someone is gay. Let them live their lives and send the police and executioners after the murders and rapist.

Finnally proof. Thats the same type of area that threw a woman in prison for filing a complaint that she was raped. Bassically thats saying being gay is just as evil as being a rapee(not a raper the person who was raped. )

I have an extremely homophobic friend who would support this bill.
I, however, find it terrible.

I'm against homosexuality, but this bill is ridiculous. Uganda has a high amount of rape and domestic violence but nothing has been done to prevent such things.

That is crazy. Uganda has to be one of the worst place to live in the first place so people should try to get out if they even can. I mean has anyone seen The Last King Of Scotland? That hook scene was gross and so was the scene with the cut up body of one of his cheating wives.

eh? People are shocked over this? Shouldn't be, it's 2009. Nothing surprises me anymore, people have gone crazy, and it's not going to change.

Homophobic people are the ones who need to be staring into the barrell of the guns being held by gay people. I mean seriously...if you are still homophobic in 2009 you just deserve your face kicked. That is all I can say that's PG and semi-decent.

I'm pretty sure that the law they passed was to kill anybody who has AIDS, to stop it from spreading but still.

A lot of you are just as bad as they are (we should kill people like this). You have to understand, these countries aren't in the same mindset that we in the U.S. are in. You have the possibility of more strengthened religious views. Also their society and culture is a lot different than ours. Here in the U.S. there are gay people who wear their sexuality like a badge of honor. We're exposed to homosexuality a lot more if not more than any other country. Whether the exposure comes through the media or just being out in the real world. They're not doing this because being gay is "yucky and gross," it more than likely has to do with some sort of ideologies or stereotypes. If you guys lived there, you'd have a completely different outlook on it, and you might agree with such laws.

It's Uganda. Does Kamala strike you as someone who would be tolerant of homosexuals?
