did wwe even aknowledge umaga's death on tv? they usually do the picture at the beginning, or did i just miss it? just curious is all.

It wasn't mentioned. I imagine they are being cautious since the mentioning of wrestlers after their deaths before knowing the exact cause of that death in the past has backfired on them before. I don't think it was a disrespect thing, because I am sure many inside the company wanted to acknowledge it.

Yeah, there was no mention of it. They have kinda stopped the whole acknowledgment of deaths at the beginning of the programs with a memorial graphic after the whole Benoit debacle and the ensuing media frenzy. You may recall that there was no mention of Test's death on WWE programming after his death.

I'm a little disappointed in WWE for not even acknowledging him. Sure they had it on their website but the still could have said something on TV last night. Even if they would have just explained why Carlito, Primo, & Jericho were wearing black arm bands.

It'd be one thing to say that WWE is somewhat classless for not showing something, but they did put something up on WWE.com, and he has his own Alumni page as well. Why would the WWE need to inform their fans? It'd be one thing if he was just released, or was with the WWE at the time. Umaga was not with WWE, was wrestling for other promotions, and had been gone for a while. Same thing with Test. |

I think they're doing a video package for Smackdown, since that was the last show he appeared on. Don't take my word on it, that's just what I've heard.

I even think it was nice that the WWE posted up a headline in their homepage about Umaga. I still think about how the WWE, as well as we, the fans, should be pretty pissed off at the whole tragedy, since it was reported that Umaga refused to go to rehab a while back. I feel bad when a person dies, but it doesn't change the point that Umaga was ignorant of his well being and continued to do his dumb sh*t even when others were warning him... Let's see who'll learn from this - and sadly, who'll be next... |

did it ever occur to anyone that maybe they were saving it for TLC? Maybe they want to air a tribute to him there or something.
That or they dont want to associate themselves with a wrestler who died of drug use.

WWE must to acknowledged it,they acknowledged the death of Mike Awesome.... I don't like the context you're using there. Mike Awesome was very talented and a staple of ECW. But to explain that, it was before the Benoit situation. |

Even if they would have just explained why Carlito, Primo, & Jericho were wearing black arm bands. I notice that too and i personally think CLASS ACT! I'm not the biggest fan of any of them but thought it was classy that they did. Not even John Cena had a black arm band and HE WEARS A ARM BAND! but im not hating on anyone who didnt jus thought it would have been a class act.. |
