The World’s Greatest Detective is facing his toughest mystery.
Lost in the timestream, believed to be dead by his friends and enemies alike, Bruce Wayne must use every bit of intelligence, every ounce of strength and training he’s acquired over the years to find his way back to the city, and adopted family of vigilantes, he’d left behind.
Blasted by the mysterious and powerful Omega Effect in the pages of FINAL CRISIS during a deadly battle with the malevolent New God Darkseid, Bruce Wayne must battle back through the waves of time to reclaim what was his – his city, his life…his cowl?
From the kinetic and awe-inspiring imagination of writer Grant Morrison and an all-star cast of artists, including Chris Sprouse, who’ll handle art chores on the first issue, BATMAN: THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE #1 (of 6) hits in April and will prove to be Bruce Wayne’s defining moment as a hero, and his toughest challenge yet.
It's not really anything new that Bruce Wayne is going to come back but I'm glad they gave a date. Wayne's costume in that sketch just looks all kinds of awesome. I can't wait to see what is going to happen between Grayson and Wayne.

I wanted Bruce to stay away longer, as I really enjoy Dick as Batman, but by the time Bruce is actually back it will have been around a year for Dick. And who knows, maybe he won't even reclaim the cowl right away.
I'd buy this anyway, but with Grant writing, I'm all over it.

This looks downright awful! I am loving Dick as Batman. Bruce Wayne is iconic. No doubt. But the issues of Batman I have most enjoyed are the ones with someone else under the mantle.....IE Jean-Paul Valley or Dick Grayson. Its new and fresh.
As far as this new story for Bruce.......ugh. Going through time and becoming Pirate Batman and Pilgrim Batman and Caveman Batman......all sounds absurd. I think its a poor way for Bruce to return.

I think its a poor way for Bruce to return. while i agree about the concept being terrible, its unfortunately the only way he can come back. Morrison decided to send him away with the Omega Sanction, an idea that he refined, and this is the only way to beat it. he did the same thing with Shilo Norman before returning him from the Omega Sanction too. this will just be a basic rehash of that mini-series. this series is coming out because there are people that want to see what Bruce is going through and his mindset before his return. i'll probaly check this out. and you dont have to worry either, Bruce isnt actually coming back to the DCU and being Batman again until September of 2010 though. i was hoping it would be alot sooner than that. thats almost a year from now.

The idea sounds a bit inane...but dammit, I love that Batman caveman costume.

ah, batman has gotten ed over with goofy storylines that his image is literally indestructible. he'll easily survive this, but i can't say i'm that intrigued by the whole concept. ofcourse i'll read it though. can't say i mind dick as the bat though, and i wish they'd keep it for atleast 5 or so years. 'course, that'd never happen.

I don't know if it's DC or Marvel doing it, but really, they're not trying too hard to differentiate between the basic concept of "get rid of a poignant character only to bring him back whilst temporarily trapping him in time" thing.

So what did everyone think of the start of the return of Bruce Wayne with Batman and Robin 10?
Spoliers
I loved the issue so much, I mean Damian wondering what is going to happen when Bruce returns was great, I really liked that Grayson is now finally solving the puzzle of where Bruce went, Talia turning Damian on Grayson was great and the ending with the secret cave was really amazing. I can't wait for the next issue to come out already, I was kinda bummed with Batman and Robin issues 7 - 9 and felt like the comic was going into a slump of sorts but with this issue my hopes have gotten really high again and I think this comic is only going to get better and better.

eh i didn't feel the same. while i agree with many of the high points you listed, behaviour such as dick stating how if bruce was to be alive again he 'guesses he'd be nightwing again' just seem goofy and absolutely surreal to the situation and that their positions should matter little in their attempt to revive bruce.

I thought 10 was the best issue of the title yet. One of the best things about the issue was Damian being so upset at the possibility of not being Batman and Robin anymore, and refusing to be Talia's tool to take down the Bat-family. He was also defending Dick when Talia started to bad mouth him. Some real growth for the character.
I hope Hurt/Thomas Wayne is in the Puritan issue of RoBW with his clan of devil worshippers.

I too am really enjoying Damian's reaction to not being with Dick as the Batman. As someone just getting back into comics this whole storyline has sucked me in.

God both of those covers are just hot.
Also I wish this comic could just come out ever single week because it is just getting so good.

Spoilers for 11
I'm still in agreement with the theory that Bruce is Sexton, though having Damian outright ask if it's him kinda throws me off, but who knows with Morrison. It could end Joker, though I definitely think he is the Domino Killer. Glad that Deathstroke was Talia's gun for hire and not Jason, and I loved Dick exploring Wayne Manor. Him finding Barbatos was very cool. The wait for issue 12 is gonna suck.

I haven't read issue 11, but from what i've heard, Dr. Hurt is back. Can I get some confirmation on this, because I really liked his character.

Finished 11, it was pretty awesome, *Spoilers* I don't know how I feel on if Sexton is actually going to be Bruce or not, I loved Dick exploring more of the mansion, and Deathstroke controlling Damian was pretty awesome and I really really really want the next issue right now.

^ thanks for that news mukau.
i just read 11 tonight, fantastic writing. i agree that joker is probably the domino killer, but i don't see bruce as being sexton. sexton actually is an intriguing character and i'm interested to see where he's headed.
