You say that Batman and Robin is the main book. For 700+ issues, Batman has been the main book. BR might be your taste, but I havent needed it 1 bit to follow Batman up until issue 701 came out. I love the writing and the art in Batman. Batman stopped being the main title a long time ago. Batman and Robin is the main book because it is telling the story that has been going on for the past 4 years. You don't need to read Batman and Robin to follow Batman because, even though Tony Daniel has been pretty good writing it, it's irrelevant to the ongoing story that started in 2006 and ends in 2012. However, Batman and Robin stops being the main book when Grant Morrison leaves it in October, and then Batman, Inc becomes the main book. Speaking of which, , Batman and Robin 16 is delayed until October. The release dates have been dreadful lately. 12 - May 13 - July 14, 15 - September 16 - October This pushes the final issue of Return of Bruce Wayne back, too. And most likely pushes back the Bruce Wayne: The Road Home stuff too, along with The Return and the start of Batman, Inc.

Dick's development is in Batman and Robin, he is the most prominent character. It's the main title, everything that matters happens in that book, including his tenure as Batman. Everything else is barely a side plot. Red Robin is the best thing to happen to Tim. It's been 15 issues of excellent writing for his character. And Return of Bruce Wayne is crazy good. To each his own, but you're missing the best stories going on in the bat-verse based on preconceptions. But they arent preconceptions. First off......changing artists every 3 issues or whatever is annoying. The art is important to me.....just as the story is. Its a comic....if the art is horrid and the story is excellent....I dont want to read it. Return of Bruce was something I most definitely wanted to read, until I read DC's plans with bringing him back. I frowned and said there was NO WAY I am reading that. How is that not a preconception? You haven't even read a single issue of ROBW and yet you think it's going to terrible. I didn't like the whole "im batman travlin' thru time tryin' to get back home" thing at first but so far all of the issues have ranged from great to amazing.
Also them moving the date back really ing sucks, I was really hoping that I would be able to read Batman Inc. sooner, not later.

I'm dying to see how Hurt is defeated and what exactly Darkseid did to make Bruce a weapon. And it seems like it'll be an eternity before this comes to a conclusion.

Its not. Like I said with Brightest Day. Plot was great.....execution was bad. You must have both in my book to be good. As far as the main title goes, who said the main plot was in BR? I mean....I know most comic fans prefer BR. In fact my friends rave about it, just like you. For me, I enjoy Batman (or was). The main and real only story for me is Dick Grayson and struggles to replace Bruce and establishing his own Batman. There was a day in comics that MOST only had 1 title. Batman having 2, with Batman and Detective was out of the norm. I enjoy the fact that we get more and variety, but then it just seems like the character is being drawn thin.

Batman and Robin is currently telling the main story going on in the bat-verse, the one that currently defines the status quo and has been for four years. Dick? Damian? Joker? Gotham as a whole? All of their important plot points happen here.

It's kind of like Uncanny/Astonishing X-Men. Uncanny X-Men has always been the flagship title, but when Joss Whedon started writing Astonishing X-Men, it became the main X-Men title with the bigger picture storylines going on.

Maybe I'm just not for the main story lines then. B/c for years I would read X-Men....but not Uncanny. I preferred Claremont's original run.....then kind of lost interest after he left. As much as I loved Claremont....I've tired of X-Men Forever.

Tony Daniel is returning to Batman as a writer and artist. How ‘bout that cover? Batman riding a horse and fighting off a clan of warriors? I’ll take it. I’ll also take a few moments to pass the mic to writer/artist Tony Daniel, who has a few things to say about what he’s got coming up come November. But only a few. Take it away, Tony.
“I’m excited to be back writing (and drawing) again. I’ll be hitting the ground running this next story arc. There are a few mysteries I want to keep secret, but I can say that I-Ching guest stars during my first arc back and Batman will need the blind mystic’s help to overcome the ancient evil that’s now taking root into Gotham’s Chinatown. Lots of swords, poison arrows, mysteries, puzzles, codes, a secret order, judo chops, punches, uppercuts, roundhouse kicks, horses, parades and fireworks, and well, it goes on.”Source: DCU Blog
I've liked a lot of Daniels covers lately so I can't wait to see how his run turns out.

His art was good, but ever since Batman 701, his characters have been terrible. Dick is way too big on that cover.

Really glad that Dick will still be the main Batman in Batman and Batman and Robin for at least a little while longer.

I wonder if there is a reason for Irving, and presumably Morrison (assuming he had some input), putting what seems like the Hyper-Adapter from Darkseid's Ancestor-Box (the tentacles) on this cover. Makes it seem like Joker knows about it...
