November 1988 World Championship Wrestling was founded, and by founded I mean it was purchased by Ted Turner and Turner Broadcasting then re-named WCW.
Seven years after the birth of WCW, 1995 brought economic growth through the promotion of Eric Bischoff to Executive Producer. Hulk Hogan was hired (truth be told, in 1994, still a cornerstone in this movement), Nitro debuted on Monday Nights and the Monday Night War took form.
_____________
We look at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, formerly National Wrestling Alliance: TNA (NWA:TNA for short)
This promotion, much like the NWA predecessor I mentioned, was purchased by Dixie Carter president of Panda Energy International in 2002. We all know about the many chapters of TNA, including the debut of TNA iMPACT in 2004 on Fox Sports Network... what I wanted to point out is the following:
2010 sees TNA following practically the same steps WCW took. Sure there is areas WCW provided more legitimate competition and areas where TNA has been more visible then WCW might have been. However, with the signing of Hulk Hogan, creative/producing powers being assigned to Eric Bischoff, and the movement of going live on Monday Night against the omnipresent Monday Night Raw.... WELL HISTORY IS REPEATING ITS SELF.
Let's just hope that come 2014 WWE will not be signing a check, and we get an appearance in the iMPACT Zone from ten year old Declan James or eight year old Aurora Rose. ;D
