Went to a show tonight (or earlier tonight) at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte. Here are the action packed results:
Hurricane defeated Zack Ryder via Shining Wizard. Good choice for an opener as it got the crowd going. My attempts to get "woo woo woo" and "you know it" yells going didn't work though. Crowd did clap it up though, bro. But it was mostly for The Hurricane.
R-Truth defeated Dolph Ziggler via Truth Detector. Ziggy got a good amount of heat, Truth was way over considering he was in his hometown. Truth's rapping was kind of half-assed though.
Maria, Savannah and Mickie James defeated Michelle McCool, Layla, and Beth Phoenix via I forget. They were all dressed in christmas regalia, except for Maria because she's stupid. Highlight for me was seeing Layla and when after the match Michelle and Beth carried Layla away on their shoulders for some reason. It was cute. Don't remember much else though.
Drew McIntyre retained the Intercontinental Title over Matt Hardy and John Morrison. I was surprised that McIntyre actually got a good amount of heat as he cut a solid promo. Morrison was over big but not as much as home state favorite Matt Hardy. The Chosen One retained after hitting Morrison with the Stroke (which is what I call his double-arm DDT).
Christian defeated Ezekiel Jackson via sunset flip. I was rocking my Christian Cage shirt so I was thrilled to see Captain Charisma. I love how Christian really tries to play to the crowd during his matches. Zeke still seems a bit green to be working a 10-15 minute match but Christian carried him to a solid bout. Zeke attacked Christian afterwards but Vladimir Kozlov came to the rescue. Ya, bring your stupid boy indeed.
INTERMISSION
Kane defeated Mike Knox via Chokeslam. Nearly put me to sleep as it's the same match we've already seen them do the last 3 weeks. Kane was massively over though, even when he was leaving.
Rey Mysterio defeated CM Punk via 619 and splash. Awesome awesome awesome. Can't say enough good things about this match. It totally makes me want to see Punk vs. Mysterio at WrestleMania like Punk has stated he wants in the past. Punk had NUCLEAR HEAT with the crowd, just spending the duration of his entrance going up to fans and berating them. I think someone even threw something at him. Sadly he didn't tell us it was clobbering time, but I helpfully added "THIS PLACE SUUUUUCCKKS!" when he did the turnbuckle climb. Rey's entrance just about blew the roof off the place. Great action with Luke Gallows cheating liberally only for Rey to overcome the odds. Rey reversing a GTS attempt into the 619 caught me off guard and ruled. I loved the hell out of this match.
Undertaker defeated Batista via Tombstone. I can now die (rest in peace as it were) saying I got to see the Undertaker wrestle in person and he didn't disapoint. It was also the first time I got to see Batista in person but meh to him. Match started slow and the crowd never fully got into it as much as the previous match but it really began to rock as they exchanged their big moves. Batista still got some face pops but played the heel role well. Taker's the man.
A decently fun show, although the freaking traffic and lines were the worst I've ever experienced and kinda dampened things.
