I would walk to the Debden Woolworths every week hoping they'd have a new figure in, but all I got was a shelf of Virgil. Nobody was digging Virgil at the time.

Reading all of these stories reminds me of a few times I still kick myself for. I remember once in Anderson California I went to a Toy Liquidators (which went on to become my favorite KB Toy Outlet for the last few years when I visited my family in NoCal. I was crushed when I found out KB was dying because of that KB.). Anyway, in probably 1994 or 95 I went in there and they had not only the Hasbro Nasty Boys 2 pack, which I had never seen before or since, for 5 dollars, but they also had SEVERAL full pegs of Black Carded LJN Honky Tonk Mans. I deserve the @$$#ole of the year award for that alone. Maybe a year later I went to the Toy Liquidators in Niagara Falls NY (another one that would become a favorite KB; I also found my Hasbro Honky Tonk Man and Bossman 2 there.) and they had a row of black carded Rick Rude, with green trunks for some reason. I had only seen the purple and black striped one prior to that, though hardly ever. The quizzical thing, which was touched briefly upon earlier, is that they had about 20 LOOSE Hakus. I really would love to hear the story behind all of these loose Hakus, and the green tights Rude for that matter. In retrospect I do actually remember some of the Hasbro shelfwarmers: Neidhart, Piper, Rockers, Bushwhackers (both singles and doubles), Sid Justice, Warrior 2, Hacksaw, Jake, and Skinner. Sidebar story: I also remember seeing Dusty Rhodes forever at my local CVS. I did eventually buy it. Snuka was also there. There was also a local Wilson Farms which had Berzerker and Ric Flair for quite a long time as well. I bought Berzerker, but should have also bought Flair. I wish I could go back in time to many of these stories and clean up. If only I knew what I know now. Thats' awesome. Nothing tops that.

the only one i really remember warming shelves around me was Tito Santana Hasbro. I remember they had about 5 of these things at a local pathmark food store around me until about 2002 down the toy isle. one day i went in there and still saw them on the shelves, marked down to $1.49 each, and decided to pick them all up. was great for me seeing how tito was doing a signing about a month later. got all 5 of them signed, and gave them to my cousins for christmas as gifts (who are all old time wrestling fans)

So ill never forget the 1 time we ever went to TRU to buy hasbros..They had tons of pipers, bossman # 2, a few ricky steamboats, and one warrior #2 (package badly damaged)..we got all 4...they had tons of bushwhacker tag sets, rockers, and id say maybe 2 or 3 sets of demolition there as well. We'd go every few weeks, and the stock moved pretty steady between series. TRU in union NJ never got the yellow, red, or green cards as far as i know...we had to get the yellow cards in shoppers world in elizabeth, the red cards were at bradlees (no yokozuna) and never saw the green cards at a store in my life!

I remember the Hills here had the Bushwackers/Rockers packs for years. They still had them in clearance after hasbro lost the license it was pretty crazy.

I can actually remember pretty vividly what LJN's sat on the shelves forever here in Louisiana. Loads of LJN bendies well into the early 90's at a toy store in the local mall, I believe called Circus Playland or something similar. British Bulldogs, Hogan and Hillbilly Jim, and Shiek and Volkoff tag teams sat on the shelf forever. Those are the only tag team sets I'd ever see when I was younger. I remember a big clearance table full of LJN stretch wrestlers in the late 80's. 16" Roddy Piper sat in Toys R Us forever as well. As did Adrian Adonis and Terry Funk. As far as Hasbros go, Purple Cards hung around for a while, as did Giant Gonzalez and the Headshrinkers. I can still kick my mom for this but I can't tell you how many times I saw the King of the Ring yellow ring at TRU and her telling me that there was no point in having 2 rings. Had she never seen Wargames? It sat there well into the Jakks line. Ah memories.

When KB had the 3 for $10 deal I remember seeing tons of Texas Tornados sitting there for a long time. Also, the last time I saw Hasbros in stores was when a Big Lots got several cases of the dark blue cards well after Hasbro had stopped producing figures. If I remember right they were only $1.99. They had tons of everyone. The only one I picked up was a HBK in black/silver to keep MOC. I kick myself now for not scooping up a few more HBKs and Razors. I have no idea why I didnt get the Bushwackers either since I didn't have the tan set in my collection. I actually just got them MOC about 2 years ago.

Blassie, Ventura, Arcidi, Orton, Fuji, Okerlund LJN toys were still in stores such as Toys R Us or drug stores as late as 1991 and 1992 for me.
I was still finding hasbro figures as late as Spring 1996 they were: Hogan 2, 3 and 4, Bossman 2, Undertaker, both Blue cards Shawn and Razor, Headshrinkers, Bushwhackers, Gonzalez, Jannetty.
The first time and only time I saw the yellow cards excluding Nailz was at a KB Toys around Summer 1995. I wouldn't think they were shelfwarming but it's strange they would be getting shipments in so late.

I definately remember the purple cards being around, but that LJN story is pretty surprising, especially since they go for so much now. Was the KOTR ring rare? My brother and I each had one but i think they got tossed out.
