Which name did you prefer for Hawk & Animal? The Legion of Doom or The Road Warriors?
I'm trying to remember...were they ever called Road Warriors in WWE?

I don't believe they were ever called The Road Warriors in the World Wrestling Federation/WWE, only The Legion of Doom or L.O.D. 2000 when they were with Sunny.
At any rate, I prefer The Legion of Doom by far.

I've always called them the Road Warriors. The Legion of Doom just makes me think of Superfriends...

LOD.
I believe during his singles run in the WWE, Animal was called "Road Warrior Animal."

they were always introduced as Road Warrior Hawk and Road Warrior Animal, the Legion of Doom. Basically the name Legion of Doom was used because Vince wanted something different then what they were known as in AWA and NWA so he could brand it himself. Notice the all black shoulder pads also disappeared and the red ones came out (along with the toy pads) too.
To answer the question, Road Warriors by far is the appropriate name for them. The Legion of Doom was actually part of a group they were in back in the early Georgia days (also was a DC Comics group I believe). The proper and best name though is hands down Road Warriors

When the Road Warriors worked for JCW back in 2001 I had them sign 2 comics books. Animal just signed Animal but Hawk signed one Road Warrior Hawk and wrote LOD under his name. On the second one he just wrote Hawk with LOD under his name.
I prefer Road Warriors over Legion of Doom. Bob

I normally call them L.O.D., so I'd go with Legion of Doom.

They're the Road Warriors, and their music is Ironman, not that "What a Rush" crap. Yet another wrestler/group whose WWF/E incarnation was inferior to their prior work. Bright red shoulder pads? F'n cartoon wrestling. The best thing about the Road Warriors in WWF was that even WWF fanboys were forced to realize that their beloved Demolition was just a patented McMahon knockoff.
Sorry, I just had a grumpy old man attack.

Road Warriors is a way better name. It goes with their biker gimmick, too.

The best thing about the Road Warriors in WWF was that even WWF fanboys were forced to realize that their beloved Demolition was just a patented McMahon knockoff. true Vinnie came up with Demolition when Hawk and Animal declined to jump ship from JCP but you must admit from the time they turned face in 88 to their heel turn in the summer of 1990 they were sometimes second only in popularity to Hogan. see their ovation at Summerslam 89,Survivor Series 89 and WM6 for further evidence of this.they were over like Rover for sure. but yes they were knock offs but damn sucessful ones.

Oh sure, they were super over, but a knock off is a knock off. He took something that worked and gave WWF/E fans an inferior version of it. Classic Vince, and, as usual, the WWF/E fans ate it up. Vince got a damn clown over with his crowd. Hell, there's a lot of people who fondly remember Dusty Rhodes in polka dots -- that doesn't mean it wasn't ridiculous. I don't see how you could have seen the Road Warriors in their prime and not giggled every time you saw Demolition. Unless you're saying that the fact that Demolition was super over with the WWF fans means that they were better than or more important than the Road Warriors. I sure hope that's not what you're saying. I'm not saying I hated Demolition, I just found all the excitement over an obvious ripoff to be hilarious.

I wouldnt say Demolition was a direct knockoff. I absolutely see the similarities but that would be like saying The Midnight Rockers were a knock off of RnR Express and Midnight Express.
Now the Powers of Pain were a direct knock off of the Road Warriors. They even dressed and made t hem cut their hair like the Road Warriors
