The idea of Angle holding a lot of belts has a striking similarity to a certain, Ultimo "Don't Call me Ultimate, Tenay" Dragon.

I would not be surprised if that is indeed what they are going for.

Maybe New Japan and TNA are doing a dealie similar to when Tazz beat Mike Awesome for the ECW title. NJPW threatened to sue IGF if they used the "IWGP" name, because it is a trademark to NJPW. If Angle walks on TV with the title, I think it spells bad news for TNA.

TNA I believe have working deals with IGF and AJPW(with Sabin in the Jr. Heavyweight Tournament finals against Kondo tomorrow), I dont think they have a deal with New Japan. Especially if they have a deal with IGF and NJPW doesnt like IGF. BUT this could work out in the way that Angle might be on good terms with NJPW and Nagata having worked with them earlier this year. For all we know Angle and NJPW have a deal going where Angle loses that IWGP title back to them.

Yeah, I'm not going to pretend to know the first thing about who's who in the Japanese wrestling world; it just seems that if TNA is mentioning it, there's probably some kind of agreement betweeen them, and probably just to get the title back to NJPW eventually. (it is NJPW, right guys?)

I dont get it. So lesnar was stripped of the title ... and decided to keep the belts?
he then defended these belts even though hes not the champ?
kurt won and is displaying these belts as if hes the champion even though hes not?
TNA is claiming hes IWGP champ even though hes not?
Why doesnt new japan get it belts back?
sorry, but none of this makes sense to me.

NJPW does have the older IWGP title in their possession, and Yuji Nagata is the true champion at this time. Lesnar supposedly stole the belt as payment from NJPW. And, Antonio Inoki's new federation I guess recognized Brock Lesnar as the "true" IWGP champion.

Antonio Inoki was on TNA Today a few months back. They talked about Kurt going to Japan. This must have been part of the deal.

Yes except Flair was in the right when he kept the title. He had put money down to hold the title in case something happened to the title they had money to replace it. But they wouldnt give his money back so he took the title he technically paid for. Lesnar was being a bitch because he didnt want to lose the title.
