Like most of you, who have already posted on this board.....I got up-watched a little football and then went on the big Mattel hunt. Here is where I went & what I found:
-Nearest WalMart: Heritage figs only-found a 1/1000 Edge-but passed as I don't care for Edge.
-Local (and only) TRU: most of the Mattel sets & belts (except for Heritage and Rey masks)....already kinda picked thru-No 1/1000 found
-Local Target: sampling of Basics and Elites.....No 1/1000 found
-Another WalMart-NOTHING found.....asked the store manager, he knew nothing and sort of, pretended to call to the back and ask for wrestling figs-then told me they had nothing....absolutely clueless
-Another WalMart-NOTHING found....didn't ask
-Another WalMart-hit the F'ing motherload.....they had wall displays, two separate floor displays-had every type of Mattel wrestling figure product available....even had 3 or four different Rey masks...had never seen these before. A supervisor was still stocking the isles w/Mattel figs and was pricing them....we smalled talked.
There I found another 1/1000 Edge & 1/1000 Evan Bourne......I bought the Edge since I knew I wouldn't find any more today....I passed on the Bourne-again, just not into collecting his figs, although now I see that was a mistake since I probably could have traded it.
Here are some photos of what I did buy:
As you can see, I found a couple of CS figs that I couldn't pass up.......a Billy Kidman (which I have always been able to trade and a Jack Brisco, which I have never seen in a store....keeping this one)
*IF you will notice the WalMart sticker on the basic Batista-there is a special packaging which includes a Mattel wrestling figs checklist, show behind the head of the fig....it looks like a card (they were all the same)
After seeing the Mattel figs online and now seeing them up close, inperson.....I don't like them that much-to me, they seem too small in size-especially when I placed them side by side with the 2 CS figs I found with them.
They remind me of the R 3 Tech style of figs......which were great in detail, at times....but so small in scale that I can't like them as much. Legs, arms look either too ripped or too small/thin....I will say they did look a little better in person, but for now-the photo above is all I plan to buy. I also really miss not getting a belt with a figure, but the last few series from Jakks got me use to the idea as they didn't include much of anything with the last few waves of their last figs.
-Please check out my updated Classified Ad (link below) as I have
more to trade now than I have ever had before. I am really gonna get rid of many cool figs and accessories.
-Peace Out,
