Last night I was in Kmart. Decide to stop by and finally see with my own eyes what do those figures look like.
Well... I know how very sensitive everyone is in here but frankly speaking the figures leave much to be desired even compared to Jakks' half @##ed figures.
Big Show looked like a caricature version of himself. Koffi outright failure. Cena, Batista and someone else three pack looked just bad. Entrance greats seem to be made of some cheesy material. I saw Mysterio and HHH. I know most of you will say that this is just the beginning and Jakks was putting out lousy figs at the beginning as well BUT:
1. Jakks was putting them out a decade ago. 2. Mattel (unlike Jakks) have a time line of competitors' mistakes to learn from.
So there is really no excuse to put out something like they put out now. Faces really look like childhood caricatures. Cena's head by Jakks is tons better than Mattel, so is the Big Show.
The only thing Mattel has on their side is realistic scale. Other than that nothing else, as the body types are not true to the characters. You can just see it by looking at Cena and Batista both have torsos more looking like John Morrison.
But I rest my case, I know how long all of you have been waiting for it so enjoy.

MATTEL > Jakks..... PERIOD!This is coming from somebody who is / was a Jakks fan, but, Mattel just make the wrestlers look more realistic. DA's were my favourite / prefered style from Jakks, but, when you think about it, there was very little scale difference there & the Arms / Bicep areas were way over ballooned for guys who didn't have huge muscles, i.e. DA Kurt Angle, loved the attire & Torso, but those balloon like Arms just on most DA's annoyed the F**k out of me. At least Mattel have hit both Scale & Realism off right at the start & the rest will improve as they go on. And why can't we say Jakks was putting out crap at the beginning, because to be fair, they were, BCA sucked, TTL was the era that Kicked Jakks into gear, RA's were hellish improvements & DA's were the ultimate figures for playability wise. All the Mattel haters need to give them a chance, they've barely had the license 3 days yet & people are complaining, things take time. Things I'd like to see improve are Older / Wrinkled up guys looking old in the Face, i.e. Finlay, so, room for improvement there. Fat / Chubby guys with that bit extra weight / possible unique Torso where affordable, i.e. Poor old Finlay again, LOL. And Jack Swagger could do with a Broader Torso / Broader Shoulders & The Head needs improved, maybes a Serious Scan instead of the smiling one, but still, it's better than Jakks Long Horse Face Head Scan of his. To be honest, I wish one Toy Company could make Wrestlers for more than just one promotion, Mattel making both WWE & TNA would be awesome, Jakks could have just UFC.

I am liking Mattel's figures so far. They don't look all that impressive for some reason, but I love that they have an actual scale with one another. Rey (even with his Elite articulation) is shorter than Bourne, who is shorter than Santino, who is shorter than Cody, who is shorter than Ted... and so on. And for the most part their head sculpts are good to great.
What I am not liking is the price. $10 for basic, $15 elite, $18 for 2-packs, $22 for Entrance Greats!?! I bought Elite Mysterio and EG HHH and with tax it came to just under $40. That ain't right... and it will keep me from buying a lot of Mattels' figures. I wouldn't mind getting more and replacing Jakks outscaled line, but at those prices I will just hold on to what I got.
So far I have gotten:
Elite Mysterio (finally the articulation he deserves in a scale that actually works!)
Santino & Phoenix (the first Mattels I found. I honestly like them better than their Jakks versions, though Jakks' Beth has a slightly better head)
Entrance Greats HHH (I couldn't resist... he looks amazing, how the TRU one should have looked)
Evan Bourne (right scale, detail, and a head sculpt that looks like him... not of some guy getting raped)
Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase (after Jakks' abysmal Ted, I wanted this better version of them with their improved head sculpts. I just wish Cody had either matching trunks or his "triforce" insignia on his boots.)
Until new guys start being made (starting with Primo apparently) this is about all I will get... maybe Elite MVP and Punk. I am sure as hell not paying $15 for Edge and Taker in rubber f'ing coats!

Of course Jakks' heads are going to be at least slightly better. They use REAL SCAN for their heads. Mattel just sculpts from scratch.

Mattel consists of actually doing both, some being scanned, some being sculpted. It was in a recent interview with 2 of Mattel's employees & what goes on into making the figs. This is one thing where Mattel is definitely lacking, Although we might not have liked things he said at times, at least we had Jeremy from Jakks posting on here & doing Q & A's & stuff. We need Mattel's equivalent of Jeremy (as in the same job type role ) to sign up to these boards & represent Mattel / talk & listen to us like Jeremy did.

I gota say I like them so far, I only have elite figures so far but i think they are better than DA was. Jakks did a good job over the years but Mattel has me wanting to see what they have in store...

I think that Mattel is leaps and bounds ahead of Jakks in areas such as detail and realistic scale. I like that the figures no longer suffer from gigantic balloon arms and legs. That said, some of Mattel's headscans are a bit off, but they're by no means horrible. I'm quite happy with Mattel, but until they lower the prices of them in Canada I wont be an avid collector.

The waist is tiny, the arms are small compared to his real arms, and his body has a little more fat on it than the figure. Neither jakks or mattel are perfect so I wish people would stop saying how accurate they are when they really arent.

Everybody has a right to their own opinion and it's your right to choose not to spend your money on Mattel's WWE products....however, I disagree and I'm choosing to spend money on Mattel's WWE products.
I think the Elite line is awesome. Elite figures are better than DA figures and I LOVED DA figures. DA figures are the only thing I've bought for the last 3 years.
Elite is like DA, but Elite is in SCALE and the bodies are more in proportion to what ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS LOOK LIKE. The Jakks DA and RA bodies were just far too muscular.
In one series of Elite figures Mattel has paid more attention to detail and provided us with types of accessories that in 14+ years Jakks never even made an ATTEMPT at.
On 1/1/10 I purchased the entire Elite Series 1, and standing next to their Jakks DA and RA counterparts, Mattel Elite in my opinion is better in every conceivable aspect. And I even purchased Basic Series 1 Triple H and John Cena as stand-ins until their Elite figures are out and I like them as well.
I agree, some of the heads are dodgy. Finlay and John Morrison come to mind as looking pretty bad....however Mattel is probably just a victim of their own eagerness as it seems they REALLY wanted to have a lot of product ready for purchase on 1/1/10 so it's possible certain things were rushed.
No company that has ever sold a product has ever gone without mistakes, however it's the EFFORT of Mattel which impresses me. And as long as they are willing to put in the time and the effort then that's really all we can ask for. I mean, let's be honest, for the last 2 years Jakks was barely painting their figures and the last 4 months they didn't even have any logo's...that was pretty pathetic.

Look at those comparison pics you posted. If Mattel hadn't have gone slighlty over board on the Deffinition of the Torso, that is almost pretty accurate. Maybes your Eyes just fail to realise it.

Good point "jfinamore", the sculpts are not entirely accurate. Rey Mysterio is waaay too ripped as well, Santino is too skinny, ect. But compared to Jakks, MOST of them are better in terms of scale, more realistic-looking body proportions, and attire.

There 2 packs are cheaper then jakks. There basics are the same price. I agree edge and taker needed cloth. However a removable rubber one is still 10x better then moulded on. The entrance Great are more collectible series. Sort of like a non limited edition version of what jakks did for rsc exclusives. I am more then willing too pay $3 more for cloth accessories. However if they aren't going too have cloth then they better have more then one accessory. Which is why I dissapprove of mvp. Although am still getting it. ;D

I just dont understand why people could possibly like the bloated, cheap plastic, shinny look of jakks figures over the Mattel. Im not saying mattel are perfect but in my view they are already way ahead of jakks in terms of quality.
