Went to Toys R Us on the 1st and 2nd, picking up all of the elites, and the Jericho/ Michaels and Glamorella 2-packs. Sadly no basics so my hunt for Big Show continues.
Review:
Elite Undertaker: Taker is great, lots of detail in tats and the folds and wrinkles in the attire is excellent. Head scan could be better but is satisfactory. My only annoyance is that the beard is only painted on and not sculpted. And of course the stupid plastic coat.
Elite CM Punk: Good, but not great. Tats are nice, attire has lots of detail, but head scan has "lazy" looking eyes. The knee pads are too stiff as well.
Elite Rey Mysterio: My LEAST favorite of the bunch. Attire and tats are great but the head is too fat and doesn't look much like Rey. The body is also too muscular and looks nothing like the actual thing. Paint was also a little sloppy, although the shirt and mask are well done.
Elite Edge: Solid figure. I think the scan is passable, and once again lots of attention to detail in the attire. For once the beard is sculpted so that's a big plus for me, although the cruddy paint color kinda pulls it down a bit. And yes the coat is too stiff.
Elite MVP: Best MVP. Ever. Great likeness, and great detail in attire. The beard is painted though, which I don't like. The accessories are lacking, but in my opinion the figure makes up for it.
Glamorella 2-pack: Santino is near-perfect! Just needs a chubbier body and a sculpted beard, but the head scan is gorgeous! Beth isn't as great, but is still a solid figure. A better head scan would have made this miles better.
Jericho/ Michaels 2-pack: Jericho is good, but needs more expression in his head scan, preferably glaring or with a smug smile like he is on TV. HBK fairs better in the head scan, but needs a stubble/ beard. Some added articulation in the hip would have been nice too, but I guess that's what elites are for.
Overall: Very nice debut for Mattel's WWE figures, especially with the detail and scale with each other. I can't wait for future waves to come out!
Here are the pics. Enjoy!
